Apple is slowly switching up the way they do things and it could lead to even more frequent releases.

The firm is known for its annual product upgrade cycle, with September being the month that it usually announces all the exciting new tech.

However, the company is now changing how it runs its releases and the move is proving to be controversial.

Apple has been releasing new products on an annual basis for years, with the latest models in iPhones, iPads, Macs, Apple Watches, AirPods and more being made available in the autumn each year.

It’s an event that Apple fans look forward to but it looks like that could soon come to an end for a number of years.

First off, the tech firm has more products than ever before and updating them all at once isn’t always practical.

Another reason is that some of them don’t require an annual revamp and a more fluid method might be more suitable for the company these days.

And if you love hearing about new Apple products or upgrades, then this is good news because it could mean there are actually more frequent releases.

This is because the firm will no longer need to wait for the annual release to debut new models.

However, this has proven to be a controversial move as many have taken to social media to share their thoughts on it.

On Reddit, some are fans of the idea, with one user writing: “Every company that has yearly releases should start doing this.”

Another said: “At last! Looking forward to a new iPhone every 6 months.”

A third person was also looking forward to the change, adding: “Good thing, no need to launch products with unfinished features just like Apple AI. Everything should be available from day one. It will be more exciting for end users to get a product with all the features Apple promised for.”

However, some people weren’t as convinced, with one writing: “I'll believe it when I see it. I'll be damned if these greedy c***s leave a penny on the table.”

While one person shared that there actually might not be too much of a change, adding: “I think the point of that statement is that they’re still going to release updates on an annual basis, but they’ll be staggered so you’ll have 6 ‘releases’ a year, but the same number of products will get updates.”

And another joked: “iPhone 17½.”
