At least 50,000 people are booking a ‘flight to nowhere’ and it’s costing them around $2,400 per ticket.

Yep, you read that right - you can now splash out on a plane ticket that will take you absolutely nowhere but it’s for a very good reason.

British Airways provides a flight that takes off from London Heathrow and, after around 40 minutes in the air, it lands right back at Heathrow.

So, why would anyone ever pay for this?

It’s actually all part of their ‘fear of flying’ course - a session aimed at people who suffer with debilitating anxiety around flying.

One TikToker has shared exactly what happens when you sign up for one of BA’s Flying with Confidence courses.

Posting a video on the social media platform, @thepointsguy, revealed that the classes have helped ‘50,000 people overcome their fear of flying’.

But what does it entail?

First of all, you can pick which type of course you go on - the premium session will include four participants and cost around $2,400.

According to the British Airways website, this will give you an afternoon psychology session led by experienced team members, a dedicated check-in desk, and an extensive lunch menu with waiter service.

You’ll also get two flights on scheduled BA domestic services, a Flying with Confidence book, and a pilot or psychologist to accompany you on the flights.

The TikToker explained that the day will start off with a ‘presentation by senior British Airways pilots explaining how safely planes fly, how pilots operate them and the rigorous selection and regular training pilots must undertake to take to the skies’.

The Points Guy continued: “After a hearty hot lunch, a clinical psychologist explains how fears of flying development can be managed.

“This is followed by a guided meditation and relaxation exercise to soothe course attendees into a deep calm.

“Finally, you are escorted in small groups for the short walk to the airport terminal where trained staff guide you through security and help you board a special British Airways charter flight.

“On board, additional pilots, crew, counselors and even the airport chaplain are on hand to comfort and support attendees, explaining every beep, bump and bell for the short joyride where you land back at the same airport just 40 minutes later.”

The course comes with a 98% success rate of helping people to combat their fear of flying.
