A ‘gripping’ new Netflix show has debuted on the platform with a coveted 100% on Rotten Tomatoes as it shoots up the rankings.

The ‘10/10’ drama has got Netflix fans hooked after subscribers shared that it is ‘gripping from start to finish’.

The streaming platform introduced the Australian series last Wednesday (June 6) and it is already the second most watched TV drama globally, sitting behind the third season of Ginny and Georgia.

The show is titled The Survivors, which follows the story of a man named Kieran Elliot who makes a return back to his hometown after 15 years, along with his partner Mia and their baby.

However, Kieran is battling memories of a storm from his past that claimed the lives of his brother Finn, friend Toby and a young woman named Gabby.

The town is then rocked when a body is found on the beach, bringing long-since buried secrets back to the surface.

Based on a book series by Jane Harper, the TV show has had rave reviews from viewers.

Creator Tony Ayres - who was behind Netflix's Clickbait and Cate Blanchett drama Stateless - described the show as ‘a Trojan horse’.

He told Netflix ahead of The Survivor's release: “It’s a family melodrama disguised as a murder mystery. Because the things that are really at its heart are things like a son wanting his mother’s love and the mother who just cannot afford to give it because her whole world might fall apart.”

The Guardian’s Lucy Mangan hailed it ‘a study in how raw grief and festering resentment warp everything -- and how surviving a tragedy rarely means getting away unscathed’, as LeisureByte.com’s Archi Sengupta said: “The Survivors is an arresting mystery-drama series that will leave you on edge and rooting for the victims throughout.”

Over on IMDB, viewers rated it a 6.5 out of 10, with one reckoning it’s ‘a slow burn, but worth it’.

The praise continued over on X, formerly Twitter, where one fan wrote: “Just finished The Survivors. 10/10 show, not just cause Yerin was I’m but it’s actually a really good suspense/mystery which I love. I went in knowing nothing so I really enjoyed myself.”

A second agreed, saying: “It’s a must-watch! The show masterfully explores complex emotions, with Charlie Vickers delivering a standout performance.”

And a third person gave their verdict, adding: “Binged The Survivors And WOW it is absolutely brilliant! Kept me on the edge of my seat all 6 episodes, so many twists AND turns! "10/10 must watch!”
