He was one of the biggest names around, and while Charlie Sheen has once again started to see his Hollywood star shine, it's been a long and bumpy road to get there.
Born as Carlos Estévez, Sheen had early roles in movies like Platoon and Ferris Bueller's Day Off before getting his big break when he replaced Michael J. Fox as the star of ABC's Spin City.
Others might remember Sheen for playing Charlie Harper on Two and a Half Men. Before he was fired over issues including public substance abuse and comments made toward Two and a Half Men creator Chuck Lorre, Sheen was the highest-paid actor on television, earning $1.8 million per episode in 2010.
Sheen has been making a comeback in everything from Scary Movie 5 to Machete Kills, leading his own comedy tour, and a new Netflix documentary.

We love a good celebrity scoop, and speaking during aka Charlie Sheen, the man himself shed some light on his rollercoaster of a life.

One of the craziest things Sheen admitted to in the chart-topping documentary is that he once supposedly drunkenly flew a plane that had 300 people on board.
Speaking to director Andrew Renzi, the now-sober Sheen recalls being intoxicated while arguing with his first wife, Donna Peele.

The pair were flying overseas on their honeymoon in 1995, and despite Sheen's inebriation, the flight crew still invited him into the cockpit and allowed him to 'briefly' take control of the plane.
After covering the story of a plane that killed 75 when a pilot let his children take control, Sheen's tale is even more alarming.
Explaining what went down in one of the opening scenes, Sheen said: "I'm there drunk, with close to 300 people asleep behind me, an angry bride 20 feet behind me, and I start guiding this plane."
With him having donned a pilot's cap and jacket, he recalls thinking: "This perfect magical flying machine responded in a way I can't put into words."

When the co-pilot realized Sheen might not be in the best state to fly a jet, they apparently switched on the autopilot before anything went wrong.
This wasn't the only plane-related story, and at another point in the Netflix documentary, Sheen clarifies the story where Nicolas Cage took over a plane's PA system and pretended to be a mentally unstable captain. The authorities boarded the plane and let the pair off with a stern warning, which was good news for Sheen. In a final twist, he claims he had over an ounce of cocaine taped to his leg at the time.
Elsewhere in aka Charlie Sheen, the star expanded on how he made childhood films with George Clooney, once stuck an ice cube up his butt to stay awake while filming Free Money, and how it was Clint Eastwood who called for his first intervention.

We're used to some pretty crazy Netflix documentaries, but making Tiger King look like an episode of Bob Ross' The Joy of Painting, Charlie Sheen looks like our latest must-watch.
