With so many streaming services at your disposal - and at the expense of your wallet - it’s getting harder to keep up with all the good stuff.

The likes of Netflix, Prime Video, Disney+ and Apple TV+ each have their out standout hits.

Netflix’s upcoming season of You or Apple TV’s mind-bending Severance are probably bound to keep you as a subscriber. But with so many options and rising subscription costs, most of us stick to one or two platforms, or cancel as soon as we’ve binged the shows we signed up for.

So, what about a free streaming platform that boasts top-rated movies and shows?

Tubi is Fox's completely free streaming service in return for viewing a few ads in between.

The platform originally launched in 2014 but it really started to take off after Fox bought it in 2020. And now with it's expansive library of content, it's booming. According to the company, more than 97 million people use it each month, clocking over 10 billion hours of viewing time in 2024 alone.

And if you're into gritty crime dramas, there's one show that deserves your attention. As of December 2024, all three seasons of the original Broadchurch are available to stream on Tubi.

Starring David Tennant and Olivia Colman as two detectives, the pair investigate the murder of a young boy in the tight-knit coastal town of Dorset. Originally aired in 2013, the British crime series dives deep into the emotional wreckage left behind by tragedy, offering a bleak yet gripping storyline of uncovering secrets.

It’s also a standout role for David Tennant, showing a more serious and emotionally raw side of the actor best known for playing Doctor Who.

With a 92% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, Broadchurch isn’t just another mystery, but I'll let the fans tell you that.

"Unlike some shows that artificially ramp up the action, Broadchurch methodically builds up the pressure to a conclusion that won't let you down," one viewer wrote.

"Simply a well-written, well-produced and well-acted murder mystery that's a pleasure to watch," another raved.

Over on Google, another fan of the show praised: "What a show! What an incredible show, the best crime thriller series I have ever watched. The show is too much perfect- be it screenplay, cinematography, acting performances by the best English actors who were extremely realistic and captivating.

"A must watch for all crime thriller lover [...]The show is super gripping, unsettling, dark and it's so addictive."

According to the platform, Tubi offers ‘the world’s largest collection of movies and TV episodes, including over 300 original exclusive originals’. The best bit is you don't even need an account to start watching.

Although if British crime drama isn't your thing, Tubi’s got plenty more to offer, from cult hits like Donnie Darko, What’s Eating Gilbert Grape?, and Cruel Intentions. Meanwhile, horror fans can dive into the Terrifier series, and if you’re in the mood for something offbeat, check out The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent starring Pedro Pascal and Nicolas Cage.
