It looks like Apple TV users will need to cough up more money to continue watching their favorite shows because the streaming platform has just announced a new price increase.
This comes as reports reveal that the subscription service now costs a whopping 200% more than 2019, when it first launched.
At the time of its initial release, a monthly subscription to Apple TV would cost you just $4.99 a month, but that number has slowly been increasing in recent years.
Last year, the subscription had gone up to $12.99 but now it has seen another rise.

This comes as MacRumors reported that subscribers will now need to cough up $14.99 a month to keep their subscription.

Meanwhile, an annual subscription will now cost $119 for the year, which is up from $99, and an Apple One subscription, which includes Apple TV, Apple Music, Apple Arcade, and 50GB of iCloud storage, will now cost $21.95 a month, up from $19.95.
This has prompted many people to take to social media to share their own thoughts on the matter, with one user writing on Reddit: “If the price goes any higher than this I will have to give it a re-think. Apple is not a streaming company, they can afford to keep the price of their service reasonable.”
Another said: “I’m curious what their end goal is. Obviously they have to raise prices with inflation but the big streamers keep doing 30% increases.”
A third person joked: “Please understand we have decided we would like more of your money at this time.”

And a fourth added: “friendly reminder to everyone we're only a couple months out from Black Friday, and last year basically every streaming service had really great deals for Black Friday. You just couldn't be an active customer to get it. I got HBO for 4.99, Disney/Hulu for 4.99, peacock for 2.99...I missed the Apple TV one because I was already subscribed.”
However, Apple TV isn’t the only streaming service that is hiking up its prices, with Peacock getting its fourth price increase within four years.
Amazon Prime Video saw price increases in March when the platform rebranded its ad-free subscription to the new Prime Video Ultra, which increased the price to $4.99 a month, up from $2.99.
Back in 2023, subscribers of Hulu saw a major price hike when it was announced that the ad-free option was rising from $14.99 to $17.99. Disney has since announced that the Hulu app will be merging with Disney+, but it is not clear yet what that will mean for subscription costs in the long run.
