There is one unexpected method that can help relieve the symptoms of the disease though, and a YouTube video showing one man affected by Parkinson's makes evidence to quite how much just a single drop of medical cannabis can make.
Shared by ScienceExplained, the video shows a man with visibly extreme tremors take a small dosage of medical marijuana, and the effects are almost immediate to his surprise and the shock of those around him.
In just four minutes he's able to lie down without moving on the sofa, and even he remarks how 'quickly' the drug was able to calm down his symptoms, allowing him to return to 'normal' life.
Not only are his hands able to keep completely still, but he also notes that his voice is coming back in a miraculous turn of events. He even was quick to ask if everybody had already had lunch, although that might also be a more common side effect of the marijuana itself.
"The relief on his face realizing it worked so quickly got me," wrote one comment in response to the video, with another noting: "Ya see that smile he gave after he calmed down. That's beautiful."
Others emphasized the importance of medical applications of marijuana – especially in comparison to its view as a recreational drug – explaining: "I'm sober now but it's beautiful to see the positive effect cannabis can have on people in his situation, brought him a whole new lease of life, what a beautiful video."
