Jake Paul's upcoming fight with Gervonta Davis has been called off just days before the bell was supposed to ring, with the former issuing a scathing statement following news of the cancellation.
There are few people – for better or worse – that have made a bigger impact on the boxing world in recent years than Jake Paul, as he has rapidly worked his way up the ladder with high profile fights that have arguably legitimized the influencer to boxing pipeline.
Many aren't happy with his ascension and popularity, especially as his exhibition bout against boxing legend Mike Tyson late last year had countless allegations of staging and even a leaked script, but the commercial success of his events cannot be denied.
One major upcoming fight would have seen Paul take on undefeated World Boxing Association lightweight champion Gervonta Davis in an exhibition bout, yet that has now been called off less than two weeks before it was scheduled due to allegations against the former YouTuber's opponent.

As reported by the Independent, an ex-girlfriend of Davis has accused the boxer of battery in a civil lawsuit, which also adds to an existing domestic violence case tabled by another ex-girlfriend, who is the mother of two of Davis' three children.
Following this lawsuit, Jake Paul's promotional company, Most Valuable Promotions (MVP), has called off the fight, issuing a statement regarding the decision.
"Most Valuable Promotions immediately initiated an investigation upon learning of the civil lawsuit filed against Gervonta Davis in Miami-Dade County on October 30th, 2025," the statement reads.

"At this time, we are gathering information and reviewing the details to ensure any decision we make is thoroughly vetted. We unequivocally condemn any form of violence and are committed to handling this matter with diligence and respect for all involved."
It also adds that the company "will make a determination on next steps once we have completed our review and consulted with the appropriate parties. Until then, we will not be commenting further."

Paul himself, however, was quick to share his own opinion on the matter, which included a scathing assessment of his opponent, suggesting that he wasn't his biggest fan.

He called Davis a "walking human piece of garbage," and described that working with him on the fight was "an absolute nightmare" due to the boxer's 'unprofessionalism' and 'bizarre requests'.
Paul also argued that "if you support this man you support the most vile sin a man can commit," adding that "my company champions women. I'm so sorry to everyone involved. Mostly to the undercard fighters, to my team at MVP and to my team who worked so hard prepping for this fight.
"Sacrificing time with loved ones and kids just for this fool to lose his unintelligent mind again. As for me it's on to the next one as always. Anyone. Anytime. Any place."
