A doctor ate only ULTRA-processed foods for 30 days to see how it would impact him.

And he was surprised to find that it caused a serious change in his behaviour.

Documenting the challenge for the YouTube channel Koi, Matty Kenny shared how it affected him.

Describing himself as a ‘doctor turned YouTube entrepreneur’, Matty began his experiment where he would eat at least one junk food meal a day for 30 days, as well as a home cooked meal.

In the video description, he explained how ‘whenever I eat fast food, I feel gross’.

Attaching a blood sugar monitor to himself, he was able to measure the changes in his glucose levels during the month and what he found was shocking.

Using the monitor to track energy levels and hunger pangs, the YouTuber revealed that he’d experienced blood sugar level spikes and crashes.

Explaining it to his viewers, Matty said: “Even at day one I already noticed a huge difference in the way I experienced the post meal slump. Fast food coma was way more sedating...I mean I was out like a light.

“Trying to get anything done that required serious concentration...was next to impossible for at least like an hour after I ate.”

He also said: “I was sitting on the couch trying my best to read this new book I got and I got caught in a loop reading the same sentence over and over again trying to understand what it meant.

“I was feeling the full gamut of symptoms — brain fog, mental fatigue, all the while just sinking a little further into the couch while my eyes got heavier and heavier.”

Matty compared his junk food spikes to the levels of blood sugar when he’s eaten a home cooked meal.

He went on to say: “We can see that the spike doesn't go nearly as high, it kind of comes on more gradually and then it never dips down below the starting point.

“The brain fog I had after eating a home-cooked meal wasn't nearly as bad. It was still there to be honest, but I was always able to build enough momentum to overcome the slump.”

And it looks like fizzy drinks added to the spike even more.

The YouTuber continued: “I noticed that any time I paired my fast food with a soda...it spiked my glucose way higher than any other meal I ate.”
