Single mom of two reveals how she cleared off $17,000 worth of debt using just TikTok

The mom found the app to be ‘life changing’

If you’re on the lookout for a ‘get rich quick’ scheme, then TikTok could be your ticket to gold, according to one mom who found the app to be ‘life changing’.

A single mom of two has revealed how she was able to clear off a whopping $17,000 worth of debt just by using TikTok.

Roxanne Freeman, from Leicester, England, shared how she built up credit card debt to support her family, even putting down a deposit on a caravan with credit.

By summer 2023, she had accumulated a total of £13,000 ($17,650) in debt but was able to turn her life around with the help of a social media app.

After downloading TikTok, Freeman started to post videos where she gave honest reviews of plus-size clothing and the views came pouring in.

Speaking to the BBC, the 36-year-old said: “This has been the turning point for me - it’s improved my confidence, my own self-belief.”

Freeman is now earning up to £5,000 ($6,790) a month and has been able to completely clear her debt, with her bio explaining how she posts about ‘body positivity, fashion, neurospicy life’.

Now boasting over 50,000 followers on the app, she continued: “In my second month I earned £600 and it just went up and up gradually.

“I’m now earning up to £5,000 per month from just two to three hours’ work a day, it’s insane.”

She added: “I took the kids on holiday - my youngest boy had never been abroad before.

“Sometimes imposter syndrome does sneak in a little bit and I worry, but you could lose any job tomorrow.”

Posting a video on her Instagram page, Freeman shared that she had ‘just been on Radio Leicester live’.

Including a clip of her doing the interview, the mom was described as a ‘social media superstar and a ‘viral sensation’.

In response, she said: “I literally can’t get my head around it, I class myself as a content creator but I guess what it is that I do is an influencer really but I still can’t get my head around it.”

One comment under the video read: “Well done Roxy, it's so nice to watch your journey grow and to see you glow!”

Global data and business intelligence platform Statista has shared that 84% of adults in the UK follow an influencer on social media, with the country having a whopping 54 millions users.
