An eerie interview with North Korean students has surfaced and it has left everyone noticing the same chilling detail.

The clip has been doing the rounds on social media, which shows a YouTuber interviewing teenagers at a school in North Korea.

YouTuber Mike Okay documented his conversation with one student, who he asked what her favorite thing about the countryside was.

In response, she said: “Under the wise leadership of our fatherly Marshal Kim Jong Un, our countryside has been changing.”

Okay asked her what had been changing and she replied: “Now, new houses were built, also gymnasium, park and swimming pool.”

Later, the vlog shows young children performing a song while a video behind them depicts a missile destroying a field of sunflowers.

In the song, they say: “Let’s sing about Kim Jong Un, our great leader, let’s boast about Kim Jong Un, our friendly father.

“Warm hearted like your mother, benevolent like your father. He is holding his 10 million children in his arms and taking care of us with all his heart.”

Many people took to social media to share their own reactions to the clip, with one user writing on Reddit: “So are we gonna talk about why they nuked a field of sunflowers at the end or nah?”

Another said: “Everything I see about North Korea reminds me of that dog sitting in fire ‘this is fine’ meme…”

A third commented: “No pressure. One wrong word and your whole family gets sent to a labour camp.”

And a fourth person added: “Dystopian and just sad really.”

A lot of people online shared a similar sentiment about the content they’d seen, with making comparisons to Trump’s administration.

One user wrote: “I feel like whenever I see North Koreans speak they look like they have think about what they are saying. It’s sad. I hope we don’t suffer the same fate in the United States.”

Another joked: “Don’t show this to Trump, he’ll have his own version being performed at the Kennedy center.”

And a third user added: “Trump is going to have little conservative girls sing anthems about him soon! Just y’all wait and see lol.”

North Korea recently opened its borders to non-Russian tourists for the first time in five years after closing them in 2020 during the initial Covid outbreak.

Russian tourists were allowed back into the country in 2024 and in early 2025, other tourists from around the world were able to travel into the country.

However, just two weeks later, North Korea closed its doors to the outside world again.
