The morning is here, the skin-curling sound of your 'Radar' alarm goes off, and you peel open your eyes while wondering whether it's off to the grindstone of work or it's the weekend and you can catch 40 more winks.

Everyone has a different morning routine, and while you might consider the routine of some of the world's richest to kickstart your day, we're not sure many of you will be following in the footsteps of Apple's Tim Cook with his 3:45 am start.

Whether you like to set your alarm that little bit earlier so you can sit in bed and catch up on the doom and gloom of the daily news, or you like to jump straight out of your pyjamas and into the shower, we're being warned that we might be making a deadly mistake that could be seriously affecting our health.

While you might not think about your first steps in the morning, we're apparently opening ourselves up to the dangers of a heart attack without even knowing it.

Remembering that heart disease is the biggest killer in the USA, and over 800,000 Americans will experience a heart attack every year, the idea of keeping your ticker ticking is one you'll probably want to keep at the forefront of your mind.

In the aftermath of one doctor warning about why certain common painkillers could be affecting your heart health, another has told us about a potentially deadly morning routine.

As reported by The Mirror, Dr Sana Sadoxai has shared a video explaining why the routine of bed, to phone, to rushing out can seriously increase your risk of a heart attack. Worse yet, 90% of heart attacks can apparently be traced back to this morning mistake.

Posting to her 42,000 followers, Sadoxai said: "The real danger starts the moment you wake up and stay still.

"Most people go from bed to phone, to sitting, to rushing out, keeping the body in a low-movement, high-inflammation state."

Sadoxai maintains that this "accelerates insulin resistance, belly fat accumulation, high blood pressure, silent inflammation, (and) metabolic dysfunction." All of these are said to 'dramatically' increase your risk of an early heart attack, with it especially affecting those who are overweight.

Thankfully, some simple changes can combat this issue with relative ease. Sadoxai continued: "Just five to seven minutes of morning movement - brisk walking, stretching, breathing exercises - boosts circulation, activates metabolism, stabilises sugar levels, and protects your heart more than people realise.

"Your weight, your metabolism, and your heart are deeply connected, ignoring this morning habit is a silent threat. Changing it is lifesaving."

Just like you'd stretch before the gym or a morning run, think of your heart as a muscle that needs to be warmed up before you kickstart it into action on those cold winter mornings.

Alongside this, there are also signs that you could be more at risk, as Sadoxai concluded: "If you're struggling with obesity, stubborn belly fat, breathlessness, diabetes, or fatigue, these are early metabolic warning signs you should not ignore. Take control before it becomes a cardiac risk!!"

Replying to her video, one person said: "Thank you. I’m going to start a new routine."

Another added: "Thank god I have a dog 😅."

A third joked: "So morning sex could be a life saver. Now I just need to get a girlfriend who wants to save a life."

So, next time you leap out of bed and go straight for a cup of coffee to jumpstart your day, take a pause and think about your poor pump.
