Disgusting simulation shows exactly why you should never pop a blister

This one really pops

It’s common knowledge among many that you should never pop a blister.

Be that as it may, one popular YouTuber has demonstrated why with a new simulation that could make some viewers squeamish.

Zack D. Films has become a prominent go-to for educational videos on the platform.

That’s not just for his consistent number of uploads, but also his sharp blend of informative content mixed with subtle humour — covering bizarre events in history to medical phenomena.

One of his latest videos is more on the latter, embedded above.

Already with over two-million views, Zack goes into why you should not pop blisters you get from a burn — illustrated with incredible detail.

During the narration, the video says: “When a blister forms over a burn, some people think they should pop it — but this exposes the wound to bacteria, meaning it could easily get infected. And once it does heal, it's more likely to leave a scar”.

“You see, when the blister forms, it fills up with fluid, and this locks out germs — protecting the raw skin underneath and speeding up healing, which is why you should just let it go down on its own”.

Although medically correct, the video is indeed graphically off-putting, depending on your threshold for the disturbing — including the blister forming and filling with its serum fluid, said serum bursting out, and bacteria appearing to cause infection once it bursts early before scarring.

Of course, while being off-putting to some, viewers of the video are in all of Zack’s latest content.

That’s especially those who’ve related from getting a burn themselves or simply taking satisfaction out of the visuals and around effect.

One commenter said: “That pop in the beginning so satisfying”, despite that doing so can endanger you more to infection.

Another confirmed the validity of the video’s facts, saying: “I just got one but from a liquid nitrogen treatment, which made a blister to form overnight. For a week, it irritated and was not easy to hide. It even got bigger. Finally, it popped by itself just when I was about to do it myself, and it left no scar and had no infections.”

Meanwhile, others pointed out the irritation a burn victim can have if a blister forms somewhere that gets in the way of their day-to-day. A third user pointed out a solution: “Pro tip if you have a blister then if it’s not too big, leave it until it heals but if it is getting in the way of your everyday life, go to a hospital to get it drained or sterilize the area and pop it then wrap it in a sterile, bandage, and leave it to heal”.

Plenty of other commenters reiterated that they’re still waiting for a ‘100 men vs one gorilla’ video from Zack D. Films, but it looks like this will have to do in the meantime.
