There’s nothing worse than accidentally exiting a YouTube video and losing your place - especially when it’s a long one.

Thankfully, there's a hidden YouTube trick that lets you lock your place in a video, so you can pick up right where you left off.

Whether you're watching YouTube, YouTube Premium, or watching TV and movies on YouTube TV, there's so much content to keep up with nowadays.

And since YouTube is available across loads of Android and iOS devices, there's never been an easier time to catch up on Cobra Kai or keep up to date with the latest Paul shenanigans.

And if you're lucky enough to own an iPad for your YouTube viewing, you might be missing out on a feature that will make it so much easier.

If you want zero distractions while watching, did you know you can lock the video on your iPad’s screen?

It’s super easy to do and surprisingly useful in a lot of situations. Let's say, you accidentally leave the app and you can't refind your place - the locking feature will prevent this from happening. Or say, you’re cooking or building something and you're following a YouTube tutorial, locking the video keeps it in place so you don’t have to rewind every time you get distracted.

It's also a great security feature for keeping kids or curious eyes locked onto a specific video. So, they're unable to leave the video and wander around other apps on your device when you're not around.

Whilst you don’t need to sign in to YouTube to do this, you must be using the YouTube app, which you can download from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store.

To enable the lock feature, simply open the YouTube app and search for a video in the search bar or choose one from your home page.

Once the video is playing, tap the Settings button.

Then, you should see a choice of Lock screen (with the symbol of a lock) - click it. And that's it! Once locked, the video will stay on screen until it finishes.

If at any time you want to unlock the screen during the video, all you need to do is tap the screen again and wait for the lock symbol to appear.

You'll then be able to hit Tap to unlock - and the screen will unlock. From here, you are back to normal browsing on your iPad.
