Whoopi Goldberg has taken to live TV to address the fact that she was named in the Epstein files.

This comes after a whopping three million pages of documents were made available to the public by the Department of Justice.

Since then, it has come to light that a whole host of celebrities and notable figures are named within the files, although it's important to remember that this does not automatically mean they were associated with the late sex offender or guilty of any criminal activity.

Now, Goldberg has spoken out to address the fact that her name is among others on the list.

Speaking to the audience of The View on Tuesday (February 17), she said: “In the name of transparency, my name is in the files, yes.”

She went on to explain that this is because of an email sent to Jeffrey Epstein in May 2013, where someone wrote that Goldberg needed a ‘plane to get to Monaco’ to attend a charity event that was being thrown by Julian Lennon.

The person asked if Epstein could offer his own private jet for the event, to which he replied: “no thnaks” [sic].

In response to this, co-host Joy Behar said: “So, in other words, anybody can be on this list?”

Goldberg replied, adding: “This is my point because when I tell you, people are trying to turn me into … I wasn’t his girlfriend, I wasn’t his friend. I was not only too old [for him], but it was at a time where this is just not, you used to have to have facts before you said stuff.”

She continued: “People actually believe that I was with him. Honey, come on. Every man I’ve been with, you’ve known about him because either the Enquirer wrote about it. People wrote about this stuff.

“So, no, I didn’t get on the plane because you know what I would have to do to get on the plane?”

Epstein initially pleaded guilty to procuring a child for prostitution and of soliciting a prostitute back in 2008, which he served 13 months in prison for.

In 2019, the billionaire was indicted for the sex trafficking of minors but died in his jail cell before his trial.

His associate, Ghislaine Maxwell, is currently serving a 20-year term behind bars for her part in a scheme to sexually exploit and abuse multiple minor girls with Epstein over the course of a decade.

As of November 2025, the Justice Department said that at least 1,000 women were victimized by Epstein, according to USA Today.
