It seems like every major global action is pushing the world closer to conflict, and the latest military operation in Iran by the United States and Israeli militaries is being viewed by many as an ominous catalyst.

Operation Epic Fury, carried out in the early hours of Saturday (February 28) morning, saw several air strikes from the United States attack Iran in what is deemed to be 'major combat operations'.

Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, Iran's Supreme Leader, was killed as part of the attacks led by American and Israel forces, and retaliatory strikes have been sent towards Iran's neighboring nations, targeting air force bases in particular.

Additionally, Iran has attacked an RAF base in Cyprus on Monday, March 2, following UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer's statement allowing the US military to use its air bases for further operations.

Cumulatively, the involvement of several key global powers – specifically several of those within NATO – has led many to fear that World War 3 could be just around the corner, and the inevitability has sparked speculation as to the safest areas across the world.

As shared by LADbible, there are thankfully a number of nations that are historically and presently considered to be safe, either due to their location, political position, or sustainability, and you might want to consider heading there if you fear for the worst.

People typically highlight politically neutral nations when considering how safe they will be from global war, and these countries tend to be high up on global peace index rankings for good reason.

Switzerland is the obvious choice for many, as it's by far the most well known politically neutral country, and it also features a number of nuclear shelters among its mountainous terrain.

Alongside this, countries such as Iceland, New Zealand, Indonesia, Bhutan, and Fiji are all considered to be among the most 'peaceful' nations worldwide and won't likely find themselves at the heart of a conflict.

There are also a number of nations that benefit from their proximity and geography, as alongside Fiji and New Zealand you have areas like Tuvalu and Antarctica — although the latter might be a bit more challenging when it comes to living conditions.

Finally, areas like Chile and Argentina benefit significantly from their sustainable farming measures, which would provide a supply of food even if farming became difficult due to nuclear dust blocking the Sun, which is something a number of the aforementioned remote nations might struggle with when it comes to natural resources.
