Soon the days of waiting by the window for your food delivery car may be over as instead, you watch an overhead drone drop your sugary snacks right into your back garden. Pretty cool, right?
Walmart has been trialling drone delivery for a number of years and announced earlier this year that the company completed 10,000 successful drone deliveries, with Oreos being the most requested product.
Although the revolutionary concept aims to take reliance off land transport, people aren't entirely satisfied with the current service.
This was after a Redditor posted a video of their 'local Walmart using drones for deliveries on small items.'

However, responders were quick to agree on one problem.
The video shows a Walmart drone delivering goods into the owner's back garden.
The drone hovers and deploys the Happy Meal-looking package onto the grass - a bit like troops fast-roping down from a helicopter - just not as speedy!

However, comments on the video voiced their concerns on the buzzing drone's noise levels.
One viewer commented: 'That is pretty loud. Imagine hundreds of those flying around,' whilst another said: 'Damn, that noise is obnoxious.'
One viewer was surprised that the commercial Walmart drone isn't quieter than most drones on the market, like the well-known DJI manufacturers, stating: 'I’m surprised they didn’t use MIT’s toroidal propellers, they are designed for drones and much quieter than standard drone props. Heck, even my DJI drone is quieter than that thing lol'.
Some Redditors acknowledged that the noise of a single drone might not be too much of a disturbance, but if scaled up for widespread drone delivery, more drones could mean more noise.

One disheartenedly explained: 'This is a glimpse of our near future. you will all dread the day when the bee's are everywhere. it will be mind-numbing and so horrific. imagine our skies everywhere filled with these drones screaming while they're delivering.'
Other viewers responded more positively with comments like 'you stop hearing them after a certain height.'
Walmart's drone delivery option is currently limited to select locations, so videos like this offers a chance for viewers to witness the futuristic air delivery for themselves.

Drone deliveries are set to become more commonplace over the next few years.
Though Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos highlighted decades ago that Amazon Air bring packages to customers via drone, the concept never really took off. Only earlier this year, Amazon announced it was expanding its drone delivery service to Europe by late 2024.
Though it sounds like good news for reducing car emissions, it might not be so great if deliveries end up sounding like bee swarms above our rooftops.
