The First Buddy sounds like he's getting restless, as Elon Musk hints that his budding bromance with President Donald Trump could be coming under strain.
Even before the POTUS returned to office, the tech billionaire was spotted firmly by his side everywhere from the campaign trail to Mar-a-Lago.
Although Elon Musk claimed he'll be stepping back from his position as the head of the Department of Government Efficiency and politics in general as he returns focus to Tesla, it doesn't seem like he's quite ready just yet.

There were questions about why he accompanied Donald Trump on his recent trip to the Middle East, although he was just one of the many tech moguls who were there to try and land a lucrative deal with the Saudi royals.
It was here that Musk made a seemingly bombshell confession suggesting that the cracks are starting to show between him and Trump.

There have been plenty of rumors about behind-the-scenes drama, such as Trump's reported swear-filled rant and Musk speaking out against the President's trade war tariffs against tech.

Speaking during the Qatar Economic Forum, Musk was directly asked if he plans on spending more on future elections.
He splashed up to $300 million to back Trump and the Republican Party in the 2024 election against Kamala Harris, and while that's barely a scratch on his $422 billion net worth, it's more than pocket change for most of us.
Musk has seemingly settled in at the White House, and despite his fortune taking a battering, he's still comfortably the world's richest man and is back over the $400 billion mark.
Shutting down the idea that he'll be opening up the bank of Elon once again for the next Republican campaign, he said: “I think in terms of political spending, I'm going to do a lot less in the future."

When pressed on why, he simply said: "I think I've done enough."
Musk has been accused of showing signs of fatigue, with him looking pretty defeated on the day he lost $29 billion in just 24 hours.
Even though Musk doesn't exactly need the money, there's also the fact that his time heading up the DOGE also comes without a paycheck.
Responding to his latest admission, many tried to read between the lines in an attempt to figure out what he might really be saying.

One skeptic accused Musk of fiddling the system as they said: "He got what he wanted- access to information about competitors contracts, sweetheart deals with foreign countries and gutting regulators that were investigating his companies."
Another added: "Elon Musk’s decision to reduce political spending is a smart move. His influence is better used driving innovation at Tesla and SpaceX than fueling divisive campaigns. Focus on progress, not politics."
A third concluded: "He ruined one of the most valuable companies in the world because of his political overreach. At this rate, he won't have much more to spend. Maga is going to bankrupt him."
All of this comes amid people spotting that Trump has massively reduced the number of mentions he's made about Musk on his Truth Social platform. Is the bromance at an end, or are the political pair merely taking a break? Watch this space.
