The continuing #Coldplaygate scandal has taken another juicy turn, as Astronomer CEO Andy Byron has officially stepped down from his position as CEO.

Having led the company since 2023, the New York-based data orchestration platform says how it "empowers data teams to bring mission-critical analytics, AI, and software to life."

Now, amid fears that Astronomer itself could be impacted by Byron's kiss cam fracas, he's officially resigned from his position.

After a fake statement did the rounds, pretending to be Byron, Astronomer has spoken out.

Posting on LinkedIn, the company wrote: "Andy Byron has tendered his resignation, and the Board of Directors has accepted."

The statement continued: "As stated previously, Astronomer is committed to the values and culture that have guided us since our founding. Our leaders are expected to set the standard in both conduct and accountability, and recently, that standard was not met."

Trying to distance itself from the scandal, Astronomer is looking to the future. Aiming to get back on track with its work, the tech startup concluded: "Before this week, we were known as a pioneer in the DataOps space, helping data teams power everything from modern analytics to production AI.

"While awareness of our company may have changed overnight, our product and our work for our customers have not. We’re continuing to do what we do best: helping our customers with their toughest data and AI problems."
