A website has issued a statement after they said they had paid Etsy witches to ‘put a curse on Charlie Kirk’ just days before his fatal shooting.
The political commentator died on stage during an event in Utah yesterday (September 10) after he was shot in the neck.
Kirk was known for being outspoken about his right-wing views and was in the middle of his ‘American Comeback’ tour where he answered questions about various moral issues including gun control.
Appearing at Utah Valley University (UVU) to a crowd of around 3,000 people, Kirk was asked by an audience member: “Do you know how many mass shooters there have been in America over the last ten years?”

Kirk replied: “Counting or not counting gang violence?”
A shot could be heard immediately after and videos captured the political pundit falling from his seat after being struck in his neck.

It was later confirmed that Kirk had died from his injuries sustained in the gunshot wound.
Now, website Jezebel has released a statement after their article titled, ‘We Paid Some Etsy Witches to Curse Charlie Kirk’ caused a stir on social media.
The piece was published on Monday (September 8) and detailed the journalist’s look into witches who offer their services to cast spells over Etsy.
In the report, the journalist wrote: “After placing my first spell, “MAKE EVERYONE HATE HIM,” I was left with more questions than answers. How long would it take to kick in? Should I have splurged for a pricier spell to make it work faster?

“Shortly after, the witch messaged me trying to upsell me a $50 “spell booster.” When I asked what it did, she explained it would “amplify the energetic support” of the main spell, or else I could let it unfold “in its natural timing.” I decided to trust the witch’s will.”
The witch went on to say: “I just completed your spell, and it was successful. You will see the first results within 2–3 weeks.”

The fatal shooting of Kirk took place just two days after the piece was published, which now features an editor’s note at the top of the page.

In the statement, it said: “This story was published on September 8. Jezebel condemns the shooting of Charlie Kirk in the strongest possible terms. We do not endorse, encourage, or excuse political violence of any kind.”
Authorities are still searching for the shooter, who is believed to have been positioned on top of a nearby building.
Police have described the incident as an assassination but the Department of Public Safety has confirmed that the shooting is ‘still an active investigation’.
The university campus has been placed under lockdown with armed police searching door to door for the culprit.
