There is a conspiracy theory that the world is actually just simulated reality but is there any proof to the idea?

Well, one physicist seems to think so after he branded the universe as being ‘suspiciously’ similar to a computer simulation.

Dr Melvin Vopson, who is a leading physicist from the University of Portsmouth has revealed that he believes the existence of gravity supports this theory as it could be an ‘echo of something more fundamental’, perhaps the byproduct of the universe ‘operating under a computer-like code’.

His most recent research into the matter was published in the journal AIP Advances, where Vopson states that gravity is an example of ‘of data compression and computational optimization in our universe, which supports the possibility of a simulated or computational universe’.

He continued: “Here, we derive Newton’s gravitational force from information dynamics and show that gravity emerges as an entropic information force governed by the second law of infodynamics.”

While this might all sound like a load of science fiction, Vopson disagrees and argues that this is a theory based in physics and evidence.

Writing for ScienceAlert, the physicist said: “In digital technologies, right down to the apps in your phone and the world of cyberspace, efficiency is the key. Computers compact and restructure their data all the time to save memory and computer power. Maybe the same is taking place all over the universe?”

If the world is a simulation, the Vopson believes that gravity could be the universe’s way of compacting its information.

In his study, he went on to say: “This study suggests that gravity serves as a computational optimization process, where matter self-organizes to minimize the complexity of information encoding within space-time. The broader implications of this work extend to fundamental physics, including black hole thermodynamics, dark matter and dark energy considerations, and potential connections between gravity and quantum information theory.

“Whether the universe is indeed a computational construct remains an open question, but the entropic nature of gravity provides compelling evidence that information is a fundamental component of physical reality and data compression drives physical processes in the universe.

“Future research should focus on refining this framework, exploring its applicability in relativistic and quantum gravitational contexts, and investigating possible experimental validations.”

While there isn’t any concrete evidence that we’re all actually living inside a simulation, it is a theory that some people strongly believe.

If true, then this could mean that we were created by a much more advanced civilization.
