Bill Maher has revealed the text message he sent to Kid Rock after he performed at the Turning Point USA Super Bowl halftime show.
The alternative show was organized by Erika Kirk’s organization to rival the performance of Bad Bunny, who headlined the official halftime show earlier this month.
Turning Point USA streamed its so-called ‘All American Halftime Show’ which was marketed as celebrating ‘faith, family, and freedom’, and featured performances from Brantley Gilbert, Lee Brice, Gabby Barrett and Kid Rock.
Since then, Bill Maher has revealed that he sent Kid Rock a text message after the performance, which he recalled during a recent interview with Elex Michaelson.

Maher explained: “You know, I liked the song he sang. I said it was a good song. The content of it - not my cup of tea. But you know, I think he writes a great song. I’m a big fan of his music.”
The comedian went on to say: “The whole thing - his whole show was about Christian … it was a very big Christian [thing].”
Maher then revealed the text message he sent to Kid Rock, which read: “Wouldn’t it have been a little more Christian to let Mr. Bunny have his moment?”
The 70-year-old was asked if Kid Rock had responded to the message, to which Maher said: “I just said, ‘Next time we talk, we should talk about whether it would have been a little more Christian to let Mr. Bunny have his moment’.”
While some accused Kid Rock of lip syncing during the performance, Erika Kirk took to social media to praise the singer and others involved in the Turning Point USA halftime show.

Captioning a video that included clips from Charlie’s life, Erika wrote: “The @TPUSA All-American Halftime Show was so incredible. Charlie would’ve absolutely loved it.
“Thank you to the millions that tuned in. I’m so proud of our entire team, staff, and the artists who believed in the vision and mission @KidRock @brantleygilbert @leebrice @GabbyBarrett.”
She went on to add: “It’s okay to love Jesus and your country. Ultimately, this is what it’s all about, making Heaven crowded.
“I love you Charlie baby, this is all for you.”
NBC announced that Bad Bunny’s historic set averaged a whopping 128.2 million viewers between 8:15pm and 8:30pm on February 8.
The singer made history as the first Latino and Spanish-speaking artist to perform at the halftime show.
