You could be sitting on some serious cash

CDs might seem like a thing of the past.

First replaced by MP3s and iPods took over - and now overshadowed by streaming services like Spotify and Apple Music.

But while most CDs have little to no resale value, some rare and limited-edition releases are now worth a small fortune - sometimes even more than vinyl records.

And surprisingly, CDs are making a bit of a comeback, not just among millennials but Gen Z as well.

So if you’ve got a stash of old discs gathering dust in the attic, you might want to head up there and check them before tossing them out.

A recent MyLondon report listed some classics that could now sell for serious cash, here is the list:

Bruce Springsteen - The Future of Rock and Roll

This 1988 Japan-exclusive promo CD is a rare find, and collectors on eBay are willing to pay up to $1,400 for a copy.

Prince - My Name Was Prince

Released in Japan in 1993 to promote 12-track album 'The Hits/The B Side', only 50 copies of 'My Name Was Prince' were ever made. That said, it can fetch up to $6,500 on auction sites.

Paris Hilton - Paris

Believe it or not, Paris Hilton’s debut album is one of the most valuable CDs out there - all thanks to Banksy. The street artist put 500 counterfeit copies of the album in 50 UK stores and now, some Paris albums can now sell for up to $10,000.

Now That's What I Call Music 4

Giving the ultimate throwback with classics like Lionel Ritchie's 'Hello' and Ray Parker Jr.'s 'Ghostbusters,' copies of the original 1984 version of this compilation CD are known to go for $500 online.

Coldplay - Safety

Coldplay released their first EP back in May 1998, but when it comes to 'Safety, only 500 copies were ever released - with only 150 ever sold to fans. If you happen to own one, it could be worth around $2,500.

Nirvana - Pennyroyal Tea

Kurt Cobain, Krist Novoselic, and Dave Grohl dropped 'Pennyroyal Tea' in April 1994, but the single was recalled immediately after Cobain’s tragic death. Though a few copies made it into circulation, because of its rarity and emotional significance, this CD now sells for $2,500 - $3,000.

Michael Jackson - Smile

Michael Jackson's 'Smile' was never officially released, so it doesn’t appear in his discography.

However, if you somehow managed to get a copy of the unreleased disc with its iconic Charlie Chaplin cover, they're going for around $1,900.

David Bowie - Sound + Vision

Bowie’s legendary 1989 box set is one of the hardest CDs to get your hands on - and prices have skyrocketed over the years. If you happen to have a copy sitting in your collection, it's likely gone up from the $5,200 fetched for one on eBay in 2013.

And while you're sorting through your old childhood memorabilia, remember that there's a collectors market for certain books and retro games - so make sure to take a closer look before throwing anything out!
