Grimes’ mom has called out Elon Musk for allegedly ‘withholding’ their three children’s passports ahead of a ‘planned’ trip to Canada.
36-year-old singer Grimes, whose real name is Claire Elise Boucher, first began dating industrialist Elon Musk, 53, in 2018.
Two years into their relationship, the Oblivion singer gave birth to the couple’s first son, X Æ A-Xii.
The pair then went on to welcome daughter Exa Dark Siderael - who now goes by ‘Y’ or ‘why?’ - and a boy named Techno Mechanicus via surrogate.

Grimes and the Tesla CEO have since split and have been embroiled in a custody battle since September 2023.
Last week, the pair made headlines again when the musician’s mother accused Musk of purposefully ‘withholding’ the children’s passports.
On Saturday (July 27), Sandy Garossino wrote to the X owner and claimed the micro-blogging site was the ‘only way’ she had of reaching him.
“As you know, my 93 year old mother is now at end-of-life palliative care,” she typed. “She yearns to see and hold Claire’s children one last time. Especially the youngest, whom she has not yet met.
“She was thrilled for the kids’ planned visit to celebrate her birthday this weekend. Today. But those hopes were crushed when the trip was canceled.
“I am alarmed to learn that the children cannot come as you are withholding them and their needed passport documents from Claire.”
She further explained that she was ‘troubled’ to see Musk and his eldest child at the Olympics and questioned where the other two children were.
“I write with a grandmother’s plea, asking you to honour your agreement, return the children, and provide the documents they need to see their great grandmother before she passes,” she continued.
“Some moments in life last forever, and we get no second chances. Family is priceless.
“Please Elon, I beg you. This is so painful for my mother and concerning for the kids.”
Amid Garossino’s claims, Musk’s daughter, Vivian Jenna Wilson, 20, has weighed in on the argument.
Taking to the Meta-owned app Threads, she has accused her father of ‘illegally keeping’ the kids from their mom.
“As you may or may not know, Grimes is currently in a custody battle with Elon over their 3 children," she wrote.
"What you probably don’t know, however, is that Elon has been illegally and continuously keeping their children, her children, away from their mother during the most important developmental period in a child’s life.
She alleged that Grimes’ children were ‘stuck in a house without their mother’ while Musk was in Paris and that his decisions could cause ‘potentially irreversibly damaging to a child’s psyche’.
“This is not the first time this has happened and if nothing changes, likely not the last,” she added.
Musk shares Wilson with his first wife Justine Wilson, 51, who is an author and journalist.
In 2022, Wilson legally filed to change her name and gender as she no longer wished to be associated with her father.
