People have been left shocked after discovering the weird result that appears if you search ‘241543903’ on Google.

It’s not what you might expect but many people have taken to social media to share their surprise over what they found when they typed those numbers into Google.

This is largely due to the fact that when you search that combination of numbers, some very bizarre images appear.

As a matter of fact, you’ll be met with images of people sticking their heads in a fridge.

Sharing their own reactions on Reddit, one user wrote: “Brain freeze so it can not rot.”

Another said: “Once in a while I would find a query that just shows me the most random irrelevant s*** on Google/Youtube.”

A third person commented: “That was probably the first known species of the ‘people doing same thing’ memes.

“Like the Planking thing that came after. Followed by things like Ice Bucket Challenge and Harlem Shake.

“I guess it can be considered an ancestor of what most people do on TikTok nowadays: Doing what someone else did, with slight modification as it’s a trend.”

And a fourth added: “It was a Tumblr trend to purposely damage Google’s reliable information retrieval.”

However, one user revealed the origin of the bizarre phenomenon, detailing: “On April 6th, 2009, David Horvitz, a New York-based artist known for his often eccentric DIY instructional projects[3], posted a picture with his head in the freezer titled ‘241543903’ via his Flickr account SanPedroGlueSticks4. Days later on April 10th, the same numeric sequence ‘241543903’ appeared in a Tumblr post which provided the following instruction for readers: screen shot of instructions telling people to post a pic of their head in a freezer and tag it with 241543903.”

In other news of bizarre revelations, people on Reddit were also shocked to discover what the brushes on escalators are actually used for.

And it turns out, they are actually not installed into the sides of every escalator as a handy shoe cleaner.

While that fact might seem obvious to some, it was apparently news to others who took to social media to share their shock at what the real reason for the brushes is.

On Reddit, one user lifted the lid on the truth, writing: “Brushes on escalators are a safety feature. Escalator side brushes, or skirt deflectors, are crucial safety features preventing clothing, shoelaces, and feet from getting caught in the gap between the moving steps and the stationary side panel (skirt). They aren't for cleaning shoes; instead, they gently push objects away, acting as a physical reminder for passengers to stay clear of the edge and avoid dangerous entanglement with the escalator's mechanics. Made from nylon with aluminum or steel brackets, these brushes are designed to be flexible and conform to safety standards.”
