Luigi Mangione continues to be a pertinent figure across social media with the release of new bodycam footage, as it shows the moment that he was apprehended and arrested by police officers in McDonald's after the alleged murder of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson.
It has now been over a year since Thompson was gunned down in New York City by a masked assassin, and just five days later then-26-year-old Luigi Mangione was arrested by police while eating in a McDonald's restaurant in Altoona, Pennsylvania.
While a supposed manifesto and a firearm were allegedly obtained by the police from Mangione's possession when he was arrested, some remain skeptical that he was the figure behind the assassination, and he has since pleaded not guilty to all charges currently levelled against him.
As reported by Tyla, exactly one year after his arrest, the Manhattan District Attorney's Office has revealed the bodycam footage from police officers that arrested Mangione, and his reaction to the incident has gone viral on social media.

The footage begins with police officers asking Mangione – who is sitting at a table in the corner of the restaurant on his own – to remove his mask, which alongside a beanie was obscuring his face.

Mangione complied with police but gave a false name, claiming to be Mark Rosario
“Someone called, they thought you were suspicious,” the cop tells Mangione — who replies, “Oh, I’m sorry.”

He was then asked for his name, to which he replied 'Mark Rosario', which we obviously now know was fake. The police officers reveal that they have approached him because "someone called, they thought you were suspicious," adding later that "they thought you look like someone" before trailing off.
Mangione was then asked to hand over his ID, although it's unclear whether this was also fake or displayed his real name and identity. The video cuts off after that point, but he was swiftly arrested and taken into custody.

"I still don't see how anyone could have recognized him from the picture," remarks one Reddit comment in response to the video, presumably in reference to his hat and mask combo that obscured most of his face.
Another comment offered a similar perspective, noting that "he had his beanie covering his thick eyebrows, he had a face mask on, the photos flashed on the news were grainy as hell... There's no way anyone 'recognized' him."
Photo of other miscellaneous items on Luigi Mangione have been released to the public.

Additionally, photos of the miscellaneous items that Mangione had on his possession at the time of his arrest have also been released, and it's a rather fascinating collection.
Not only does he have the 'essentials' such as food, sanitary products such as natural deodorant, and masks, but he also had a full hair clippers set, alongside a Polaroid camera and an M.2 NVMe storage drive.
