A tech mogul who has been dubbed the real-life ‘Iron Man’ is teaming up with an entire country to build an AI ecosystem.
This is all part of the United Kingdom’s plan to build sovereign computing infrastructure and invest in cutting-edge research and skills.
With London Tech Week currently taking place in England, tech giant NVIDIA, which is headed up by Jensen Huang, has teamed up with British businesses to host the first UK Sovereign AI Industry Forum.

Peter Kyle, who is the UK Secretary of State for Science, Innovation and Technology, said: “We have big plans when it comes to developing the next wave of AI innovations here in the UK - not only so we can deliver the economic growth needed for our Plan for Change, but maintain our position as a global leader.

“Central to that is making sure we have the infrastructure to power AI, so I welcome NVIDIA setting up the UK Sovereign AI Industry Forum - bringing together leading British businesses to develop and deploy this across the UK so we can drive growth and opportunity.”
At London Tech Week, it has been revealed that Nscale plans to deploy AI infrastructure in the UK with 10,000 NVIDIA Blackwell GPUs before the end of next year.

In a blog post by NVIDIA, it shared that this move will “help position the UK as a global leader in AI, supporting innovation, job creation and the development of a thriving domestic AI ecosystem.”
Attendees of the event were interviewed by CNBC, where one person described Huang as ‘Iron Man’.
Another said: “The amount of infrastructure required for AI wouldn’t be possible without that man.”
Wedbush analyst Daniel Ives has also previously dubbed Huang as the ‘godfather of AI’.

Huang spoke at the event on Monday (June 9) alongside UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer, where he said: “Infrastructure enables more research - more research, more breakthroughs, more companies.

“That flywheel will start taking off. It’s already quite large, but we’re just going to get that flywheel going.”
At which point, Starmer thanked Huang and added that “the confidence it gives when you explain it that way is huge.”
