The chilling moment that the CEO of ChatGPT realized the real consequences of the technology he’d created was captured on camera.
A clip of an interview featuring Sam Altman has gone viral on social media after he revealed that he ‘got scared’ while testing a version of his artificial intelligence.
The OpenAI CEO admitted that the advancement of the technology ‘feels very fast’.

The footage was shared on Reddit which shows Altman appearing on a podcast with Theo Von, who asked the tech mogul if it ‘feels like it’s moving too fast for you sometimes?’.
In response, Altman admitted: “The last few months it felt very fast. It feels faster and faster, but the last few months it felt very fast.”
Altman was then asked about his fears about AI, to which he replied: “This morning I was testing our new model and I got emailed a question I didn’t quite understand, and I put it in the model, this GPT5, and it answered it perfectly.
“And I really kind of sat back in my chair and it was just a ‘oh man, here it is’ moment.”

Many people have taken to social media to react to the video, with one user writing: “Everyone is way too chill in these comments about what Altman is saying. He is clearly vocalizing his incompetence and complete lack of vision.
“He is launching a ship with all of humanity in it and saying he is not sure the ship will float but launching it anyway. In every interview he shows a clear lack of risk management and his preference to be the first mover no matter what. He is winging it.”
This prompted a reply from another person who said: “No he’s not lol. He’s literally just promoting his product. He wants people who are seeking advanced AI to get hyped up and try out their product. ‘Our product is SO damn good, it’s actually scary. Believe me, you’re going to want to try this out for yourself’, type of promotion.”

And a third person added: “He’s used this strategy plenty in the past. Are there actual dangers we need to be aware of? For sure. But that’s not what he’s trying to convey here.
“Understand what he’s doing. He’s not trying to scare you. He’s selling his product to people who want an AI that’s as advanced as possible. He’s selling the progress his company is making with the technology. This isn’t a warning. It’s a sales pitch.”
