ChatGPT makes $200 dollar feature completely free in major update

Christmas has come early

OpenAI is putting its money where its mouth is, with ChatGPT users apparently able to save over $200 a year thanks to an unexpected gift. With Christmas just around the corner, and people likely to tighten their belts more than ever in January 2026, it seems OpenAI is giving back and helping us save a little more by including a perk that many of us use every day but might be sick of stumping up for.

There's a reason that ChatGPT was the most-downloaded on Apple's free app list, and even though some of you will keep paying the jaw-dropping $200 a month for ChatGPT Pro, we casual users can make the most of the latest update.

You tend to have a series of apps that you use daily in your work life, and if you're any sort of visual creative, you might turn to Adobe Photoshop for all your editing needs.

With it, you'll know that Photoshop comes with quite the price tag, costing $22.99 per month for a basic single-app plan. That adds up to a lofty $263.88 per year, meaning ChatGPT could be saving you quite a chunk.

Adobe has confirmed that it has launched Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Express, and Adobe Acrobat inside ChatGPT. Saying that these versions "build upon the company’s innovation in agentic AI,” it's said to enable us to "easily enhance vacation photos, design event invitations and create polished, professional documents simply by describing what they want to achieve with their words."

Combining Adobe's creative tech and ChatGPT's 'conversational interface', it's supposed to make creativity more accessible for everyone.

Cheering the update, David Wadhwani, president, digital media, Adobe, said: "We’re thrilled to bring Photoshop, Adobe Express and Acrobat directly into ChatGPT, combining our creative innovations with the ease of ChatGPT to make creativity accessible for everyone.

"Now hundreds of millions of people can edit with Photoshop simply by using their own words, right inside a platform that’s already part of their day-to-day.”

For those fearing that the ChatGPT version of Photoshop pales in comparison to its bigger brother, TechRadar took it for a spin and couldn't be happier. The outlet says that ChatGPT's baked-in Photoshop is incredible, wanting to shout about it from the rooftops.

ChatGPT users can make targeted Photoshop edits like removing or blurring backgrounds, as well as applying effects and more. It's as simple as stating the name of the program and then asking for what you need, for example, writing: "Adobe Photoshop, help me blur the background of this image.”

Features are currently rolling out globally, with Photoshop, Express, and Acrobat all available on ChatGPT for desktop, web, and iOS. Only Express is available on Android, although Acrobat and Photoshop are coming soon.

It's the end of a big year for ChatGPT, as third-party apps, including Canva and Spotify, were added in October. While it's all well and good that Photoshop is now part of the ChatGPT family, some question what kind of overlap there might be with Canva.
