AI company overtakes Apple to become world's first $4,000,000,000,000 company

A bank balance that even Elon Musk would be jealous of

The world is only getting richer, and while there are fears that President Donald Trump is about to upturn the tech world with his tariffs, one tech giant has just earned the honor of being the world's first $4 trillion company.

While Elon Musk is supposedly on track to become the world's first trillionaire, it's baffling to think there's now a company that's been worth four times that.

When you tend to think of the big hitters in terms of the world's wealthiest companies, the likes of Apple, Microsoft, and Alphabet feel like the leaders, although a surprising artificial intelligence upstart has knocked it out of the park.

Despite Microsoft hitting its own record high of $3,660 on June 25, 2025, it's since been dwarfed by Nvidia.

Nvidia was already predicted to have a massive 2025, but few could've predicted such a meteoric rise. Despite a catastrophic loss amid fears the AI bubble had burst, Nvidia has been clawing its way back.

Even though it's now dipped back down to a $3.96 trillion market cap, Nvidia has entered the history books as the first company in the world to cross the $4 trillion line.

Stock rose 2.76% when the market opened on July 9, hitting an intraday record high and nudging its value over $4 trillion. It finished the day up by 1.8%, meaning it was just below the $4 trillion mark.

Back in June 2024, Nvidia claimed the top spot as the world's most valuable company, but with it sitting at $3.4 trillion, it was still some way off claiming the $4 trillion crown.

An AI frenzy in 2025 has seen the numbers climb, leading Nvidia to this money milestone.

The flurry of activity was partly triggered by the launch of Comet. The AI-powered browser comes courtesy of an Nvidia-backed startup called Perplexity AI. Hoping to take on Google Chrome's 68% share of the global browser market, Comet marks Perplexity AI's debut in the browser market.

Comet aims to simplify browsing with an AI interface, and already drumming up plenty of interest, it's got major investors, including Jeff Bezos.

It's not just Nvidia itself that's earned a fortune this year. CEO Jensen Huang has added a jaw-dropping $27.6 billion to his net worth, making him one of the three biggest billionaire gainers in 2025.

Nvidia's $4 trillion landmark earned Huang an equally impressive $2.47 billion in a single day.

At the time of writing, Huang's 3.5% stake in Nvidia sees his net worth sit at $141.4 billion and makes him the ninth-richest person in the world. In 2025, he's only behind Oracle’s Larry Ellison, adding $58.6 billion to his net worth, and Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg, adding $51 billion.

Now that Nvidia has cracked that $4 trillion ceiling, it'll surely only be a matter of time until it happens again.
