If you're anything like us and follow the Zillow Gone Wild Instagram page, you’ll probably spend hours looking at luxurious homes, critiquing their decor and layout without ever being able to afford them. Shows like Selling Sunset have also given a glimpse into the real estate mansion market that most of us likely can only dream of. Still, if you've got a spare $50 million, you could scoop up a glass 'castle' that's been in frozen in time for over 30 years.

In 2021, the Robert W. Plaster Foundation placed the Evergreen Crystal Palace up for sale, costing a cool $80 million. It's since been reduced to $49 million for the property and 365 acres ($23 million for the property and 23 acres), but that doesn't make the nearly 25,000-square-foot glass and marble estate any less impressive as a jewel of the Midwest.

Sitting 200 feet above the 'prestigious' Table Rock Lake, the Evergreen Crystal Palace boasts a 20-car parking garage, helicopter pad, and 12 guest suites over five levels. If you want a crystal palace fit for a king, how about one of the two master bedroom suites measuring a whopping 3,000 square feet? It has almost everything, but sorry, there's no karting track.

Although it looks almost perfectly clean, the Evergreen Crystal Palace remains relatively untouched - even containing towels still stamped with the Evergreen logo.

Built in 1991 by Robert W. Plaster, the founder of Empire Gas left his estate to help college funds for students. In order for his wishes to be met, the Evergreen Crystal Palace needs to sell first.

As well as serving as a private residence for Plaster, the estate is said to have served a dual purpose as a corporate retreat for Empire Gas. Designed by noted architect Dennis Spencer, the Evergreen Crystal Palace looks like a time capsule to '90s, which is ironic because it actually contains two time capsules that aren't due to be opened until September 3, 2042, and September 3, 2092. Hopefully, the estate will have sold by then.

Private Air luxury magazine writes: "There are more rooms than one can count in Evergreen Crystal Palace. Each of which rambles with surprises and delight with unexpected details.

"The grand glass atrium allows one to take in the stunning lake views from sunrise to sunset and blurs the boundaries between interior and exterior."

Selling the property for Evergreen Investments, real estate agent Ken Coleman previously said, "It’s really strange to go in the house today because it looks like it’s just a frozen time capsule." The property went viral when a 30-minute tour in 2021, but despite some initial buzz, it looks like it's still on the market.

Saying there's been a lot of interest from Hollywood films to shoot there, Coleman says this isn't really the desire.

As time ticks on and the Evergreen Crystal Palace remains frozen in its bygone era, here's hoping someone eventually takes it on and gives it the love it deserves.
