Games have never been more expensive and it has become a strain on the wallet of many a gamer, yet thankfully Xbox owners can use this method to claim 'free store credit' — though you don't have long before it expires.

It was only recently that Xbox announced the launch of its first $80 game, and while it eventually backtracked following major fan outrage, it shows that you should value every penny you can save in the gaming world.

This is especially true ahead of the release of GTA 6, which many industry analysts expect to shatter the current price ceiling following over a decade of development.

Game subscription services like Xbox Game Pass and PlayStation Plus can only do so much to curb the ever-increasing cost of buying games at launch, and that's exactly why all gamers on the green side should take advantage of a new offer that lets you redeem store credit for free.

As reported by Pure Xbox, it's now that time of year again when Microsoft Rewards lets you cash in your points in its annual Gift Card Sale, with Xbox digital codes included in the lineup.

If you're unaware, Microsoft Rewards is a program that allows individuals across the entire tech giant's ecosystem to earn points as they use the products and software, including Xbox.

On the gaming side these are earned by completing daily and weekly quests, purchasing games from the Microsoft store, and even through specific actions in Game Pass.

There's a good chance that you'd racked up hundreds, if not thousands without even realizing, and now might just be the perfect time to cash them in quite literally for some wallet credit.

The current gift card sale applies a discount of up to 10% on existing point exchanges, so as long as you're a Level 2 member. These include the following discounts:

  • $5 Gift Card - 5,595 points
  • $10 Gift Card - 11,190 points
  • $25 Gift Card - 27,975 Points

There's a good chance that you have enough to get at least one of these, and you might have even saved enough to stack them towards your next big game. All you need to do to check is head to the 'Redeem' section of the Microsoft Rewards page to see what you are eligible for.

Keen-eyed Reddit users have also spotted that there's currently a bigger discount on Microsoft gift cards compared to Xbox specific ones, and it has been tested that these are applied in the exact same way to your Xbox account, so it's definitely the one to go for if you're looking for a bigger saving.

You will have to act quick though, as the offer is only available until 11:59 p.m. PT on October 14, 2025, giving you only a couple more hours to grab what could be a game changing discount.
