These vintage video games are selling for thousands of dollars

A rare copy of the world’s best-selling game could be worth a whopping $4,000.

It might be time to have a look through your old video games to find out if you might have a hidden gold mine stored away.

The beloved game in question is Minecraft, and a version of it for the Xbox 360 is up for auction, with the current bid sitting at a staggering $4,300 at the time of writing.

In the item description, it details that the case is sealed and is a ‘first-production copy’.

It continues: “Signifying the console debut of the cultural phenomenon, this edition introduced Minecraft's iconic block-based creativity and survival gameplay to an even wider audience. It includes the ‘2-Day Gold Trial’, a feature exclusive to the initial printing.

“The game’s arrival on Xbox 360 was a pivotal moment that expanded its reach beyond PC, helping to cement Minecraft as one of the most influential and best-selling games of all time.”

But this isn’t the only game that will make you a pretty penny with collectors.

This is Zelda Majora's Mask [Adventure Set] which is playable on the Nintendo 64 and if you have it complete in-box then it could go for big money.

The top 10 most valuable PAL video games are worth a combined amount of $30,000.

So, which games will be valuable in the future? Roy Raftery, who is a trading card and video game specialist working with Currys, revealed which game he believes could be worth keeping hold of, saying: “While not cheap at £65 ($87), Super Mario 3D All-Stars for the Nintendo Switch is an interesting choice.

“It’s a game that collects three iconic Mario titles – so it’s already off to a good start - but was on a timed release by Nintendo, meaning after a certain point they stopped making or selling copies. The only way to pick this title up now is via the second-hand market, and the Switch is a system gamers love collecting for.”
