Nintendo fans concerned after price leaks for one of 2026's biggest games
In case you haven't noticed, 2026 is a particularly stacked one for video games, and while most people's attention is on the next Grand Theft Auto, the big three of Microsoft, Nintendo, and Sony have their own first-party releases to keep us busy.
September heralds the release of Marvel's Wolverine on PS5, October has Gears of War: E-Day on the Xbox Series X/S and PC, while The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake is hopefully on the way before the end of the year.
The latter is causing plenty of buzz in the gaming world, especially as the OG Ocarina of Time is rightly heralded as one of the greatest video games of all time.
The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake price leaks
Although rumors have been swirling for years, an Ocarina of Time remake was finally confirmed in a June 2026 Nintendo Direct, simply telling us the beloved fantasy adventure was being 'reborn' on the Switch 2.

Still, with 2026 being the 40th anniversary of the Zelda name, what better time could there be to announce the long-awaited Ocarina of Time revamp? That's just it, though, no one knows exactly what the remake involves and whether it'll be a simple 1:1 remaster or a massive expansion that can improve on the near-perfection of the original.
The Ocarina of Time's digital edition (briefly) appeared on the Australian Nintendo Store, priced at AUD $94.95.
Although the listing has now been deleted, it wasn't before everyone swooped on the reveal. It's important to note that even though this is in Australian pricing, it's the same as what Yoshi and the Mysterious Book cost in the USA ($59.99).
Alarm bells are ringing for some because this is lower than the $69.99 charged for Donkey Kong Bananza.
Over on Reddit, there were concerns that 2026's Ocarina of Time will be nothing more than a graphical upgrade.
This goes against what we saw in the first cinematic, which showed off an entirely different art style and even showcased protagonist Link in new clothing, teasing that this would be more of an overhaul.
All will become clear in a special Nintendo Direct today (September 8), but that didn't stop angry Redditors from speculating.
Turning their nose up at the price, one person said: "I don't consider this price fair if it's the same 30 year old game with a new coat of paint. That's only $10 less than what RE remakes and FF7 remakes go for which are way more ambitious."
Another added: "If this is a 1:1 remake with better production values and QoL improvements with the same layouts, mechanics, and geometry, it will literally be the most disappointing remake of the past 25 years. They already did that on the 3DS."
Others were more ambivalent, as a third concluded elsewhere on Reddit: "People are so funny. $70/$80 = Greedy Nintendo. $60/$70 = Lazy 1:1 remaster."
Thankfully, there isn't long to wait.
The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time release date leaks
It's not just prices that have leaked, with a potential release date also out there in the wild. While some hoped Nintendo might do a surprise drop of the Ocarina remake straight after the direct, you might have to hold your Eponas for a while.
Over on X, GameVerse shared a post that supposedly includes the release dates of several Nintendo projects, including Nintendo Switch Sports Resort, and The Duskbloods. The big one is the Ocarina of Time remake, which is pencilled in for November 12, 2026.
Although we should take this with a major pinch of salt, it would give the much-hyped remake a week to get ahead of GTA VI. Despite many thinking GTA VI will be the biggest game of all time, and publishers are even said to be avoiding going anywhere near it, that seemingly doesn't matter to Nintendo thanks to Ocarina being a GOAT of the industry.
We'll have to wait for all of the above to be confirmed, but the idea of rounding off November 2026 with Ocarina of Time and GTA VI has our bank balances moaning in anticipation.
