Nintendo has been slammed online as being ‘out of touch’ over its new Super Mario game release.

The gaming giant is under fire for a bundle it released that includes the game Super Mario Galaxy 1.

On the Nintendo website, it details how through the game, you can ‘journey into space on the hunt for Power Stars, overcome a universe of challenges and most of all - stop Bowser!’

Many people took to social media to share their own thoughts on the matter, with one user posting on X, formerly Twitter, to say: “This image radicalized me. Nintendo truly out of their mind packaging Mario Galaxy 1 in a $70 bundle, 5 years after bundling it with 64 + Sunshine at $60.

“Same console. No Nintendo Switch 2 version or serious upgrades to the visuals. Out of touch with reality.”

Another said: “This is what happens when the Nintendo boot lickers keep buying repackaged s***. Hold out and then Nintendo WILL change. Only problem is they have a huge cult following, who unironically will pay 25 bucks FOR RECYCLEDCARDBOARD,” referring to the cardboard model of VirtualBoy.

A third person commented: “They’re available individually. You can buy 2 for 40 bucks. The bundle is for people who didn’t get 3D All Stars.”

And a fourth added: “I'm not completely defending Nintendo BUT the direct did mention you can buy each game separately.”

It was announced earlier this month that remasters of the iconic Super Mario Galaxy games would be coming to both Nintendo Switch consoles.

Both Galaxy games will be available as a physical bundle, but also individually on the digital Nintendo eShop.

While both games will be available on the Switch and Switch 2, there was no word at the time of writing whether they will be enhanced on the newest console.

There will be two amiibos available at launch, inspired by the Super Mario Galaxy games, namely Mario and Luna, as well as Rosalina and Lumas. Not to mention a cute physical storybook.

Both games are considered to be two of the best that the entire franchise has to offer, and fans have been calling for modern remasters for years. So, this is expected to be welcome news for many fans.

On the aggregate website Metacritic, Super Mario Galaxy and Galaxy 2 both scored 97, more than earning the ‘Must-Play’ accolade and confirmed to be all-time greats.

Both games will be released on Nintendo Switch next month on October 2.
