How to make sure you won't be locked out of GTA 6 over new ID requirements
Gamers in certain nations could be blocked from playing GTA 6 at launch thanks to new age verification laws, so you'll want to make sure you've complied with the various ID requirements and checks in order to avoid being locked out.
Right now it's only Australia that explicitly requires people to prove that they're over a certain age to play games, although the expansion of age-based laws in other countries like the United Kingdom suggest that these mandates could soon expand across the world.
While there doesn't appear to have been explicit confirmation of GTA 6's age rating at the time of writing, it's safe to assume that – like every other release in the series – it will be rated Mature or 18+, depending on where you are.
Following Australia's implementation of online age verification laws, it is expected that GTA 6 will also thus be required to block users who have not confirmed that they're over the age of 18, as reported by the Metro.
How to set up age verification before GTA 6
Confirming your age can likely be done through two methods, but they're thankfully both easy to set up with one being possible to complete before GTA 6 even releases.

Regardless of whether you're on Xbox or PlayStation, anyone in a country currently subject to age verification laws can bypass all of the issues by completing a check directly through their console.
This not only circumvents issues with any game that you play as your age is checked at the console level, but it also lets you prepare ahead of time to avoid any issues that might crop up on launch night.
To do this, simply head to your console's relevant age verification page – and you might have already received an email about this during the roll out – and scan the QR code to complete the check.
You'll likely need to supply a relevant form of identification like your driver's licence or passport, so make sure you have that ready before going ahead with the check.
Additionally, you can also confirm your age through Rockstar directly, which you might have already done if you're an active player of GTA Online as Australia's laws impacted the multiplayer mode.
If you're in an applicable country, head into the game mode and a QR code should appear alongside a message asking you to verify your age, so scan that and verify your eligibility to continue playing.
When will GTA 6 release?
People are only just starting to expel their anxiety surrounding another potential delay for GTA 6, with what's arguably the biggest game in history set to launch on November 19, 2026.
