New gritty game 'Ends' gets GTA fans excited after 11 years of waiting for GTA6

The new GTA-style game is set in London

A new gritty game has got Grand Theft Auto fans excited after 12 years of waiting for the next instalment.

It’s been a long time coming but Take Two Interactive, which is the parent company of Rockstar Games, confirmed yesterday (February 6) that GTA 6 is still on track for an autumn release this year.

After GTA 5 dropped back in 2013, fans have been eagerly awaiting the next release, and now a new game is heightening the anticipation.

But instead of taking inspiration from US cities, ENDS, which was developed by Concrete Realm, is set in London.

In the game description, it says: “ENDS is a single-player game set in the Pembridge Estate in London, which faces imminent demolition by the local council.

Players take on the role of Rahim, navigating his life alongside friends Sonny and Reece. The narrative explores the challenges and choices of urban life, contrasting the realities of different social classes.

“With sandbox and RPG elements, players immerse themselves in a gritty crime drama, experiencing realistic and grounded gameplay elements. It’s a coming-of-age story that delves into the complexities of brotherhood, family, and loyalty.”

Speaking to Insider Gaming, the game development company shed some more light on the inspiration behind the story.

It said: “We felt that many AAA game developers couldn’t quite capture the authenticity of London as we could. We’ve noticed that recent UK titles like the new season of Top Boy and Blue Story faced criticism for not fully delivering an authentic experience, and we believe ENDS can fill that gap.

“This project is a passion project for us, and we’ve discovered that many others share our enthusiasm for it. It’s a game designed by and for the people, aiming to provide a truly authentic London experience.”

And it looks like gamers can’t wait to get their hands on this new game.

Concrete Realm went on to say: “The overwhelmingly positive response to our announcement trailer has revealed a significant appetite for a multiplayer experience in the world of ENDS. As a result, we’re actively exploring the possibility of incorporating multiplayer features at launch.

“Ultimately, the realisation of this vision hinges on the demand from our community, and the support and the investment we receive. We’re committed to staying true to our gaming principles and delivering a compelling experience!”

So, if you're one of the many people waiting on Grand Theft Auto, this could be the game for you!
