Apple’s first ever foldable phone, known as the iPhone Duo, is set to finally be released on Friday (October 23) after it was first unveiled last month.
As part of the tech giant’s announcement, it was also revealed how much battery capacity the upcoming iPhone Duo has, which gives consumers some good insight into how the foldable device compares with Apple’s other smartphones.
As reported by 9to5Mac, Apple lists the iPhone Duo's battery capacity at 4,883mAh which puts the device among the iPhones with the largest batteries currently available, although it doesn’t quite take the top spot.
The iPhone Duo uses two separate battery cells, with one measuring 2,962mAh and the other 1,921mAh. Combined, they provide a total capacity of 4,883mAh.

This places the foldable phone between the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max in terms of battery size, with the two devices offering capacities of 4,288mAh and 5,567mAh, respectively.
However, battery capacity alone doesn’t tell the whole story when it comes to how long a phone will last between charges.
How does the iPhone Duo compare with other iPhones?
The battery of the iPhone Duo is larger than those found in most of Apple\s recent smartphone models, which includes the likes of the iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 17 Pro and standard iPhone 17.
Only the iPhone 18 Pro Max and iPhone 17 Pro Max have larger batteries among the models included in the comparison, with capacities of 5,567mAh and 5,088mAh, respectively.
Therefore, the Duo has a battery around 4% smaller than the iPhone 17 Pro Max, while its capacity is approximately 14% lower than the iPhone 18 Pro Max.

Meanwhile, the iPhone 16 Pro Max has a 4,685mAh battery, meaning the Duo offers a slightly larger capacity than Apple’s older flagship.
The difference is more noticeable when compared with other models in the lineup as the iPhone 17 has a 3,692mAh battery, and the slim iPhone Air has a considerably smaller 3,149mAh cell.
For anyone considering an upgrade, these figures suggest the iPhone Duo has a substantial battery compared with many of Apple’s non-foldable smartphones.
It has also been suggested that the iPhone Duo can last up to 44 hours of video playback when using its outer display, which falls to 31 hours when watching video on the larger inner screen.
By comparison, Apple lists up to 45 hours of video playback for the iPhone 18 Pro Max and 39 hours for the iPhone 17 Pro Max.
