Apple’s $250M settlement payments are coming to users sooner than expected
Anyone who purchased an iPhone 15 or iPhone 16 at launch could be entitled to their share of a $250 million settlement fund from Apple, and it might even arrive earlier than expected thanks to a change in court.
The settlement was initially reached in May, with Apple targeted over claims surrounding false advertisement, as it was alleged that 'deceptive ads' relating to the launch of Apple Intelligence features and an enhanced version of Siri had 'flooded the market' but ultimately did not arrive as promised.
It is only this month that those promised AI features are expected to arrive alongside the launch of iOS 27, providing validity to the claims made in court that eventually led to the significant settlement.
As reported by CNET, a spokesperson for Apple outlined that the company "has reached a settlement to resolve claims related to the availability of two additional features.

"We resolved this matter to stay focused on doing what we do best, delivering the most innovative products and services to our users," the statement continued.
Who is eligible to claim compensation?
Approximately 36 million customers are eligible to claim compensation from this settlement, so if you purchased any of the iPhones listed below between the dates of June 10, 2024 and March 29, 2025, you could be entitled to your share of the money.

- iPhone 15 Pro

All of these devices were involved in marketing surrounding Apple Intelligence features, and while some did arrive – including Genmoji, Clean Up, Live Translation, and Visual Intelligence – many of the other more 'advantage' tools got pushed back amid what some called a 'disastrous' launch.
When is the settlement payment expected to arrive?
Settlement payments will begin to be sent out within a 60-day window from February 24, 2027, as U.S. District Court Judge Noël Wise granted approval to push forward the date that was originally set for September 29, 2027.
This means that those roughly 36 million iPhone owners eligible for compensation will get their money sooner than expected, and Apple has to inform and provide information to customers entitled to the funds no more than 45 days after the settlement has been officially approved.
There is no way for you to submit your claim for compensation at the time of writing as you'll need to wait to be informed first, but if you believe that you're eligible you should soon receive either email or postal confirmation from Verita pointing you toward the next steps, with a 90-day deadline to file your claim.
Depending on the number of individuals who submit their claim, payout are expected to be between $25 and $95 per eligible device.
