Dramatic video shows plane aborting takeoff as its engine erupts into flames.
The aviation industry is facing another troubling incident, with a plane disaster that was narrowly avoided in what could have been a catastrophic situation.
2025 hasn't been so positive for plane news as the Potomac River collision killed 67 people in January, while June's Air India Flight 171 claimed the lives of all but one of the 242 people on board.

Now, a Swiss airline has been caught on camera in a terrifying incident that fortunately didn't end in tragedy.
A Swiss Air Lines A330 was preparing for takeoff at Boston Logan International Airport on 17 September when flames suddenly burst from the rear of the aircraft, forcing the crew to abort the departure.

Video footage shows the plane accelerating down the runway before flames erupt from the engine, accompanied by loud bangs. The aircraft then begins veering to one side as the crew works to bring it under control.
Curious Reddit users managed to track down the full video on YouTube. YouTuber loganinflight captioned that there were 'no injuries' and the crew and ground teams were 'quick to assist' the aircraft.
According to CBS News, the incident occurred around 6:25 p.m. as flight LX55 was attempting to take off for Zurich, Switzerland.
"We can confirm that on flight LX55 from Boston to Zurich, there was a problem with the right engine during takeoff," Swiss Air Lines stated. "The crew immediately aborted the takeoff. The passengers were able to disembark the aircraft regularly after it had taxied back to the gate."

There were 223 passengers and 13 crew members on board at the time, the airline added. The airline is unsure how exactly the incident occurred.
"Investigations into the exact nature of the engine problem are currently underway. However, depending on the problem with an engine, it is possible that a flame may be visible for a brief moment," Swiss Air Lines explained.
The flight eventually departed for Zurich on a different aircraft and was expected to land around noon. In total, passengers faced a delay of approximately five hours.

People on Reddit praised the pilot's reactions in this situation.
"Good reaction from the crew. Could have easily gone off the road," one user wrote.
"Wonderful job keeping it on the runway," someone else praised.
