Viewers have noticed a bizarre detail in a new Netflix documentary on a mother who catfished her own daughter.

The shocking Netflix doc shares the story of a mother who was found out to be catfishing her own daughter, even going as far as to send her daily death threats.

Lauryn Licari and her boyfriend at the time, Owen, started to get numerous text messages in late 2020 which led to an FBI investigation, with the trail following back to Lauryn’s own mother, Kendra Licari.

The documentary, which is titled Unknown Number: The High School Catfish, has shocked viewers, with many taking to social media to share their own thoughts on it.

And one person has pointed out a strange detail, writing on Reddit: “The strangest part for me was when the police go to Kendra’s house and say they’ve tracked the IP address back to this house. When the police call Lauryn inside the house and tells her what’s been going on she doesn’t really seem shocked. She doesn’t confront her mom at all. She doesn’t say anything!

“Then the dad is told to come over by the police, outside the police explains what has happened and that Kendra has also lied about having a job.

“When the dad goes inside he’s only bothered about when Kendra was laid off her job, he doesn’t mention anything at all about the fact Lauryn’s mom has been aggressively cyber bullying their daughter for over a year!

“I don’t know it’s just strange none of them seem remotely surprised about the cyber bullying.”

Others responded, with one user saying: “I think Lauryn could not even grasp what she was hearing. Even in the interviews she gives today, you can see she is still processing what happened and wondering what is true and what is not.

“She's had 2 years to work through it and she still cant figure out what her mom did. I think it will be a very long time until she does and I think her mom will hurt her again and again until she finally lets go or puts up boundaries.”

Another commented: “The policeman was talking in such an indirect way, that I don’t think Lauryn even understood what’s going on in that moment.”

And a third added: “This isn’t strange at all if you understand complex trauma and chronic childhood abuse. Lauryn’s response is not atypical in someone who has been psychologically abused since early childhood.”
