One of the wonders of YouTube is the lengths that many creators go to uncover hidden secrets across the world, and one channel has managed to find an entire that was hidden underwater almost 100 years ago.
YouTubers have managed to share their experiences in some of the world's most remote locations, and have even attempted to make a connection with tribes that are cut off from civilization, although with varying success rates.
Some of the most fascinating videos on the platform though are creators challenging themselves with finding things that no others have managed before, and one YouTuber used his latest video to attempt to uncover an underwater city in the heart of California, a project that had been six years in the making.

Mark Rober is not only a former NASA engineer but one of YouTube's most popular experimenters, with countless viral videos testing out wild theories and creating unique inventions.
Having heard about old towns that cropped up in California amid the gold rush, Rober began to wonder if there were entire cities that had become hidden underwater when mass flooding occurred and streams were dammed up, creating new lakes.
He took his testing to one lake in Sacramento, using a number of high tech tools to start his investigation including a sonic torpedo that measures areas using echoes, and even his own personal submarine.

Issues did start to emerge though, the main one being the incredibly challenging visibility as soon as you head underwater that makes actually spotting any remnants of cities that might have disappeared 100 years ago rather challenging.
He managed to find entire boats that had been laid to waste at the bottom of the lake and even a wrecked plane, but there was little progress in actually uncovering any ruins in the earlier stages of his investigation.

The sonar did manage to discover that their boat on the lake was at that time sitting right above a ruined bridge, and they managed to find it all the way down in the hopes that it would presumably lead them to the rest of the town.

Tragically, it was only until right at the investigation's end that Mark and his crew discovered that the town they were looking for had actually succumbed to a massive fire, burning down every building and leaving the settlement little more than foundational ruins.
That would make finding any sign or evidence of it in the lake near impossible, yet while that was without a doubt devastating news, it was still a fascinating adventure and they still managed to locate a number of secrets that would have remained hidden otherwise.
