X adds warning to Kanye West's account as he's allowed to return to platform days after antisemitic rant

West received widespread pushback for his 'hate-fuelled' posts on the platform

Kanye West's account has been mysteriously restored on X just under a week after it was removed following an antisemitic rant, and a content warning has been added before you can access the profile page.

Controversy has surrounded Kanye West, now legally known as 'Ye', for over a decade now following endorsements of Donald Trump and repeated incidents involving antisemitism.

West had previously received support and backing from individuals such as Elon Musk, who previously claimed in a post on X that "Kanye was right about MAGA," but his recent tirade proved to be too much for even Musk to contain.

On Friday, February 7, West posted countless times on X, most of which evoked some form of hatred, and also changed his display picture to a plain white square.

Posts included West calling himself a Nazi, professing his love for Hitler, and claiming that Elon "stole my Nazi swag at the inauguration," likely a reference to Musk's alleged Nazi salute.

His account was then taken down from the platform, although its unclear whether it was banned by X or whether West himself took it down. Shortly after West sold swastika-emblazoned t-shirts on his own personal Yeezy store, which has also now been taken down by host Shopify, as reported by NBC News.

While West thanked Musk for "allowing him to vent" in one of his final posts, the billionaire outlined: "Given what he has posted, his account is now classified as NSFW. You should not be seeing that anymore."

It appears that recent developments somewhat contrast this though, as per the Independent, as West's account is back up on X, albeit with one clear caveat.

The account not only does not show up in any searches, but it now displays a content warning caution before you can access the page. On top of this, all of Kanye's previous posts have been removed, and at the time of writing the profile is currently blank with all previous followers removed.

This doesn't necessarily contradict Musk's previous statement, as the terms of the content restriction applied to the account do indicate that you won't be likely to see his posts on your timeline if you're not following him.

Whether this means that West's account will remain untouched from now on is still yet to be seen, and it's also unclear as to whether he has zero other restrictions on what he posts.

Many on platforms like Reddit have expressed their own frustration and reservations at West's reinstatement, with the r/Kanye subreddit offering their worries in particular:

"Some weird f***ery going on at Twitter," argues the top comment, with one of the replies insinuating that "Elon wants it up because it brings people to X."

Others have pointed out that they'll have to "prepare for his next series of tweets," offering in addition their disappointment at the number of people who have already jumped to follow the fresh account.
