The chess community suffered a tragic loss earlier this week as 29-year-old grandmaster Daniel Naroditsky passed away, and video footage from his final live stream has been shared online.
Chess has a positively thriving community across the internet and social media, with countless popular live streamers and personalities that allow people to share their love for one of the world's oldest games.
On Monday the community lost one of its most popular figures though, as American grandmaster Daniel Naroditsky suddenly passed away after streaming the night before.
His death has come amid controversy, as Naroditsky was the subject of intense cheating accusations from fellow grandmaster and world champion Vladimir Kramnik, with many calling for the latter to be permanently banned as a result.

As reported by Attacking Chess, Naroditsky's mother has revealed the emotional toll that these allegations had on him, illustrating that "for Daniel, there was nothing more important than his dignity and his name as a chess player. He worked his whole life for it — and then one person kept saying he was a cheater."

Kramnik has since been referred to the International Chess Federation's (FIDE) ethics and disciplinary committee following Naroditsky's death as per The Guardian, which does have the authority to ban him for life, although the Russian grandmaster has since announced his intention to file a lawsuit, accusing FIDE of leading a smear campaign.
Footage from Naroditsky's final stream has been shared on social media though, and it has left many upset as he directly addresses the impact that the allegations from Kramnik has had on his wellbeing.

"But the problem is ever since the Kramnik stuff, I feel like if I start doing well people assume the worst of intentions," Naroditsky explained. "'Why did he end this stream?', 'Suddently started playing well', you know what I mean. The issue was just a lingering effect to it."
Fellow streamer and grandmaster Nemo Zhou offered her thoughts on this stream and the wider situation involving Naroditsky, writing on X: "In watching the clip below of Danya's last stream and hearing the pain in his voice, how deeply the baseless accusations affected him, I am left so mad at what we all allowed ot happen right in front of us."

She added that "the events leading up to this tragedy happened in broad daylight over the last 18 months. They could have been stopped. Nothing like this can ever be allowed to happen again."
