Elon Musk has mysteriously changed his social media name once again, as the CEO of X has left many feeling confused after he takes on another moniker with an alternative meaning.
Despite being in charge of two of the world's biggest companies and head of a leading government department, Elon Musk still finds the time to incessantly post on X every single day.
While most of his tweets amount to single-word reactions like 'interesting', 'wow', or even just an emoji, his position as the social media platform's owner gives him significant influence and many pay attention to his every move.

Having Musk interact with your posts can significantly increase the monthly payouts you receive from X, as one unfortunate influencer realized once the billionaire swiftly unfollowed her, and he's now proven once again that something as simple as changing his name and display picture can make people a lot of money.

As reported by Republic World, Elon Musk's latest social media moniker sees him return to the 'Kekius Maximus' name that he debuted earlier this year, leaving many confused as to what exactly it refers to.
Accompanying the name change is a new display photo, which appears to be an AI-generated image of Musk in golden armor in a Rome-like location, with the words 'Emperor Kekius Maximus' emblazoned below.

Looking at the name itself, 'Kekius' derives from the internet slang 'Kek', which was originally used in World of Warcraft and became common on sites like 4chan as a replacement for 'lol' or laughing.
'Maximus' means either 'greatest' or 'largest' in Latin, and is also likely a reference to the 2000 Ridley Scott film Gladiator, which featured a main character of the same name.
More importantly though, 'Kekius Maximus' is also a meme coin cryptocurrency which began shortly before Musk first changed his name earlier this year, and the recent shift follows on from a previously crypto-inspired moniker that also left people confused.
Prices soared by 1096% the first time Musk took upon the Kekius Maximus name, and while this recent move hasn't had quite the same effect, it still saw a major boost to the crypto coin's price, according to CoinGecko.

The price of Kekius Maximus jumped from $0.02641441 to $0.061129 in just two hours after Musk made the name change, representing a 131% increase for anyone who had invested heavily in the coin, with over $21 million worth of volume trading in the immediate hours following the decision.
Conversely, $GORK - which was the inspiration for Musk's last display name and profile image - has fallen significantly in price following the shift to Kekius Maximus, showing quite how powerful something as simple as a social media name can be in the crypto world.
