There’s a secret Instagram feature that’s hidden within your DMs and it is seriously blowing people’s minds.

Just when you thought social media couldn’t get any more addictive, there’s a hidden function in the Instagram app that’s got nothing to do with photos.

The little-known game is playable on the platform but it’ll only work if you know where to tap.

It’s not being advertised as a feature so you’ll only know it’s there if you know where to look or stumble upon it by mistake.

Speaking to the Sun, a Meta spokesperson said: “We are always working on ways to make Instagram feel more fun while connecting with friends.

“And have rolled out a hidden game that can be found in your DMs.”

It’s a fun game where you need to keep an emoji in the air by hitting it from a paddle found at the bottom of the screen.

Here’s exactly how to find it.

How do you find the secret game?

It’s a solo game and as it progresses, it gets increasingly more difficult, with the emoji moving faster across the screen.

If you want to have a go for yourself, all you need to do is send an emoji to someone in an Instagram DM.

If you click the emoji, you’ll then be transported to the secret game.

You’ll be able to play the game with whatever emoji you’ve sent.

If you can’t see it or it doesn’t work then you might need to update the app in your phone.

Over on Reddit, one user revealed some extra information about the secretive game.

They wrote: “A few good easter eggs me and my friend found so far today. Love to know if anyone else has found anymore.”

These hidden easter eggs include the fact that using the ghost emoji will make it disappear periodically from the screen.

The pizza emoji has cheese slices fly from it when it’s hit with the paddle.

Similarly, the alien emoji sees little spaceships float away when it comes into contact with the paddle.

And according to the user, the caterpillar emoji eventually transforms into a butterfly after a certain amount of hits.

But Instagram isn’t the only way to access free games online.

There are lots of classic games available to play on Google.

All you have to do is search for them and they’ll pop up. From there, you’ll be able to play each game from the Google page.

This includes games like solitaire, snake, Pac Man, and tic tac toe.

It works on both mobile devices and desktop and is certainly a fun dose of nostalgia.
