An ozempic user has called out a ‘disgusting’ side effect and has issued a warning to others using the weight loss drug.
While many people have seen incredible results through GLP-1 medication used to treat obesity, some have reported surprising side effects.
Taking to social media, people have shared their own experiences with using weight loss drugs and many have found similarities in the way the medication affects their body.

On Reddit, one user took to a thread about ozempic to reveal a shocking change they have noticed.
The user wrote: “So this is why my favorite candy tastes disgusting now?”
Quoting a research piece, they continued: “Yes, semaglutide can affect taste perception, potentially making food taste different or impacting food preferences. Some individuals report a heightened sensitivity to sweet flavors, while others find certain foods, particularly fatty or processed ones, less appealing. This is likely due to how semaglutide, which mimics the hormone GLP-1, interacts with taste buds and the brain's response to taste”
The original poster went on to share that they ‘cannot stand sweets’ while taking ozempic because they ‘taste like plastic to me’.

This prompted others to reply to the post, with many people admitting that they have been experiencing similar side effects.
One user said: “Pop, chocolate, and some other (usually sweet) foods taste odd to me now. But overall I actually enjoy food much more now. I’ll finish a nice meal and feel happy and satisfied about it for hours. That’s a totally new experience for me. All my food anxiety is gone as well, which I didn’t expect.”
Another wrote: “I’ve lost my taste for lamb. It smells and tastes off-putting to me now. Minor bummer but the drug is working.”

And a third person added: “Meat. Before, I had zero issues but now I really have to be in the mood for it. Otherwise it just turns me off.”
Plenty of celebrities have jumped on the bandwagon of weight loss drugs, with the likes of Elon Musk, Oprah Winfrey and Kelly Clarkson openly admitting to taking these types of medication.
However, there have also been reports of serious side effects by users, and hundreds of people reported having problems with their pancreas after taking the drugs.
Now, a new study has been launched to investigate what the cause of these issues could be and whether there are any genetic factors involved.

It has been reported that there have been 10 deaths related to taking GLP-1 drugs, although none of these deaths have been confirmed as being directly caused by the jabs themselves.
