Microsoft is being sued by users in a major lawsuit after the company axed a popular software that was used by millions of people.

This comes as official support for the majority of Windows 10 editions is expected to come to an end in October this year.

And the looming date seems to be causing a growing sense of anger from Microsoft users with one person even instructing a legal team to try to force the tech giant to extend the deadline.

Lawrence Klein, who is based in south California and owns two Windows 10 laptops, is suing the computer company after it announced its plans to end support.

In the lawsuit, it argues that Microsoft is driven by a desire to ‘monopolize the generative AI market’ without concern for its users’ data.

According to the suit, the decision made to end the support for Windows 10 is a deliberate move to force users to purchase new devices.

There is concern that when the support for these devices ends, including security updates, it will put the computers in a vulnerable position and might lead to successful cyberattacks.

This is backed up by the fact that former White House cybersecurity advisor Roger Cressey recently revealed that Microsoft products have become common targets for Chinese hackers.

According to Klein’s argument, Microsoft is already ‘well aware’ of these risks.

But Klein isn’t looking for any money from the tech firm, instead he just wants them to extend the support it gives to users of Windows 10.

Many people have taken to social media to share their reactions to the lawsuit, with many revealing their own opinions on the matter.

On Reddit, one user wrote: “My first impression is this will get tossed by the court because MS announced years ago that they would stop supporting Windows 10 (just as they did with XP, Win7…) and the fact that alternatives exist like Macs.”

Another said: “Unless he has an enterprise long term support contract with MS for that product (and even those do not promise an indefinite support), this has no basis and will get thrown out on a motion to dismiss.”

And a third person added: “I still think windows 2000 was the best version of windows yet you don’t see me suing them over their lack of supporting it.”

It doesn’t look like others are as convinced as Klein that he can get the support extended!
