Kamala Harris slams Elon Musk for controversial claim made on Joe Rogan's podcast

The former presidential candidate hasn't minced her words

Kamala Harris has seemingly 'called out' Elon Musk, with the world's richest man causing a stir following his latest appearance on the Joe Rogan Podcast.

The divisive tech billionaire isn't one for mincing his words, and proving she's still defiant against the current administration, the former presidential candidate has made a not-so-subtle jibe about the so-called First Buddy.

It was something of a landslide for Donald Trump in the 2024 American Presidential Election, with the business mogul securing a massive victory over Kamala Harris after Joe Biden withdrew from the race and his Vice President stepped up to the plate.

Elon Musk made a recent appearance on the Joe Rogan Podcast, which is something of a regular occurrence for him.

While there, Musk took aim at Harris and the Democrats when discussing immigration.

The Tesla overlord told Rogan: "The fundamental weakness of Western civilisation is empathy, the empathy exploit.

"They’re exploiting a bug in Western civilisation, which is the empathy response."

Seemingly in response, Harris spoke to 4,500 real estate agents at an industry conference on Australia's Gold Coast and shared her concerns about the rise of artificial intelligence and more.

Although she didn't directly name Musk, the former VP said: "This misplaced idea that the sign of the strength of a leader is who you beat down."

She then went on to say: "There was someone that is very popular these days, at least in the press, who suggested that it is a sign of the weakness of Western civilisations to have empathy.

"Imagine. No, it’s a sign of strength to have some level of curiosity and concern and care about the wellbeing of others.”

Coming out to Beyoncé’s "Halo", Harris joked that she's 'unemployed' right now.

She equally didn't mention Trump or Vice President JD Vance directly by name, but seemed to throw shade their way when she continued: "I do worry, frankly, about what’s happening right now in the world.

"I do worry that it is important that we remember history. It’s important that we remember the 1930s. It’s important that we remember that history has taught us that isolation does not equal insulation.

“It is important that we understand and remember history, which taught us the interdependence and interconnection between nations. History that has taught us the importance of relationships of trust, of the importance of friendships, integrity, honesty."

Taking many anecdotes from her book, Harris added: "I don’t hear no. I eat no for breakfast. I don’t hear no until maybe the tenth time. I can’t begin to tell you the number of times it has been explicitly or implicitly said to me – it’s not your time. You’re not ready, they’re not ready.

“Don’t you listen. And this is again what I mean about applauding ambition."

As for her thoughts on AI, she raised the concerns of many that it could take jobs from humans and be used to spread misinformation: "It is important to celebrate innovation but, again this may be just the prosecutor in me, one must ask also: are there vulnerable people and are we doing what we can to ensure they’re safe?"
