Elon Musk has made another powerful enemy, but with the world's richest man having pretty deep pockets, it sounds like he's settled his latest legal fracas.
More than just lording it over X (formerly Twitter), the fact that Elon Musk has many business ventures under his belt means he's no stranger to controversy.
Whether it be Tesla shareholders suing over robotaxi claims, Twitter staff alleging unfair severance pay, or Ashley St. Clair filing for sole custody of her son, Elon Musk has also been on the other side of legal proceedings when he sued OpenAI, Chief Executive Sam Altman, and President Greg Brockman over allegations that it breached a founding agreement by prioritizing profits over benefits to humanity.
Another major lawsuit has been settled, with Elon Musk's SpaceX apparently drawing a line under its beef with Cards Against Humanity.

The Associated Press reports that Texas court records show how both sides settled in September 2025. This comes just weeks before a jury trial was supposed to start on November 3.

In an October 20 statement, Cards Against Humanity said it couldn't disclose the terms of the settlement, while SpaceX and its legal team apparently didn't reply to a request for comment. Things kicked off in September 2024, when Cards Against Humanity announced it was launching a lawsuit against SpaceX. The popular card game manufacturer claimed the space technology company left materials on a plot of land that it purchased along the US-Mexico border in 2017.
Although headquartered in Chicago, it's said that Cards Against Humanity bought the plot in an act of defiance against President Donald Trump and his first-term plans to build a wall across Mexico. Cards Against Humanity maintains that SpaceX never asked for use of the site, therefore seeking $15 million in damages for 'unlawful' use of the land.

At the time, Cards Against Humanity vowed to give all of the net proceeds back to its original 1500,000 subscribers who donated $15 each to help purchase the land.
In an email to The Associated Press, Cards Against Humanity claims that SpaceX admitted to trespassing on the land, adding that a trial "would have cost more than what we were likely to win from SpaceX.”

SpaceX was also accused of dumping construction materials like gravel and debris on the land. The statement continued: "The upside is that SpaceX has removed their construction equipment from our land and we’re able to work with a local landscaping company to restore the land to its natural state: devoid of space garbage and pointless border walls.”
Cards Against Humanity had attempted to preserve the plot of land and put up 'no trespassing' signs, adding that SpaceX caused a loss of vegetation. While details of the settlement remain under wraps, the popular game company concluded: "Were we hoping to be able to pay all our fans? Sure. But we did warn them they would ‘probably only be able to get like $2 or most likely nothing."
